Performer Space

The MelaMarkets is looking for performers to take the stage at Muse Mix, a community-centered music event celebrating local musicians, vocalists, DJs, and other performing artists.

Each selected performer will receive at least a 15-minute performance set, not including transitional time for setup and breakdown.

Performers are also invited to participate beyond the stage:

~Bring business cards, flyers, CDs, QR codes, music samples, or other promotional materials for our shared Performer Marketing Table.
~Connect directly with attendees and other creatives throughout the event.
~Take advantage of vendor discounts when shopping with participating Muse Mix vendors.

We’re looking for performers who want to share their work, connect with the community, and contribute to an evening centered around music and local talent.

Space is limited to 8 performers. Submitting an application does not guarantee selection. Selected performers will receive additional information regarding set times, equipment, setup, and event logistics.

1. Application Review & Performer Selection 
Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance into The Muse Mix. All applications are reviewed based on event fit, performance type, audience, scheduling, and available performance time. 

A maximum of eight performers may be accepted per event.

The MelaMarkets reserves the right to approve or decline applications and curate the lineup based on the event's needs, performance variety, and available time. 

2. Performance Fees, Schedule & Set Length 
Applying to The Muse Mix is free. Approved performers must pay a $25 performance fee upon approval to secure their spot. Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance or reserve a performance slot. 

Each scheduled performer will receive a standard 15-minute performance set, excluding transition time between performers. 

Performers must arrive on time, be ready to perform at their assigned time, and follow the event schedule. 

Transition time between performers is separate from the 15-minute set and does not count toward the performer's allotted time. 

If fewer than eight performers participate, the remaining performance time may be redistributed among the performers who are present, ready, and available to perform. Performers may receive more than 15 minutes at The MelaMarkets' discretion. 

Additional performance time is not guaranteed and depends on the number of participating performers and the time available. 

Performers who arrive late, are not ready at their assigned time, or miss their scheduled slot may forfeit some or all of their performance time. 

The MelaMarkets reserves the right to adjust the schedule or set lengths when necessary to keep the event running smoothly. 

3. Tips & Performer Earnings 
Performers are not paid by The MelaMarkets for participating in The Muse Mix. The $25 performance fee is a participation fee, not payment for performing. 

Performers may use a tip jar or another method approved by The MelaMarkets to collect voluntary tips from audience members during their performance. 

All tips collected belong to the performer who receives them. Tips are voluntary, and performers may not pressure, harass, or require audience members to contribute. 

The MelaMarkets does not guarantee tips, earnings, audience attendance, or other financial returns from participation. 

4. Performer Responsibilities & Equipment 

• Performers are responsible for:
• Arriving on time and being ready for their scheduled performance.
• Preparing their performance in advance and staying within their assigned time unless additional time is approved.
• Providing any instruments, equipment, backing tracks, costumes, props, or other materials needed for their act unless otherwise specified.
• Ensuring their equipment and performance materials are safe and suitable for the venue.
• Following applicable laws, venue rules, and event-specific requirements.
• Respecting the venue, audience, other performers, event staff, and The MelaMarkets.
• Keeping performance and transition areas clean, organized, and free of trip hazards.
• Communicating accessibility needs, special equipment requirements, and technical needs before the event.

Event-specific details regarding sound equipment, microphones, electricity, stage space, setup, sound checks, and other logistics will be provided when applicable. Equipment availability is not guaranteed unless expressly stated by The MelaMarkets. 

Performers must operate equipment safely and comply with venue sound limits and technical requirements. The MelaMarkets may restrict equipment, props, effects, or performance elements that create safety concerns, violate venue rules, or interfere with other performers or the event.

 
5. Family-Friendly Performance Content & Conduct 
The Muse Mix is a family-friendly, open-mic-style performing arts showcase. All performances must be appropriate for a family audience and comply with the following content standards. 

The following are not permitted: 

• Profanity or vulgar language.
• Explicit lyrics, including live vocals, backing tracks, and DJ selections.
• Mature or sexually explicit dance performances or choreography.
• Other performance content that is inappropriate for a family-friendly audience. 

Performers are responsible for reviewing their lyrics, music, choreography, visuals, and other performance materials before the event. Clean or edited versions of songs must be used when applicable. The MelaMarkets reserves the right to stop or restrict a performance that does not meet these standards. 

Performers must treat guests, fellow performers, organizers, partners, and venue personnel with respect. Threatening, abusive, discriminatory, harassing, or unsafe conduct is prohibited. The MelaMarkets will issue a warning when appropriate.

Serious misconduct, immediate safety concerns, or refusal to comply with event requirements may result in immediate removal without a refund. Continued noncompliance after a warning may also result in removal. Violations may affect eligibility for future MelaMarkets events. 

6. Cancellations, No-Shows & Performer Changes 
Performers who can no longer attend must notify The MelaMarkets as soon as possible through the designated communication channel. 

Performers may request a withdrawal and refund within 24 hours of approval. After that window, performance fees are non-refundable and non-transferable, including cancellations or no-shows. 

If a payment is declined, the performer has 48 hours to resolve the issue or risk forfeiting their performance spot.

 
Performers may not transfer their scheduled slot to another person without prior approval from The MelaMarkets. 
Substitutions, changes to the approved act, and significant changes to technical requirements must be approved in advance. 

Performers who fail to attend without notice may receive lower priority for future showcases. 

Emergencies will be considered on a case-by-case basis. 
If a performer cancels or fails to appear, The MelaMarkets may redistribute the available performance time among the remaining performers. 

7. Weather, Event Changes & Refunds 
The MelaMarkets or Artist with a Purpose may cancel, postpone, relocate, or reschedule an event due to weather, venue circumstances, safety concerns, insufficient participation, or other operational factors. 

The MelaMarkets will monitor conditions when applicable and communicate event changes to performers as soon as possible. Final decisions regarding event operations are made by The MelaMarkets, subject to venue requirements and directions from relevant authorities. 

Event Cancellation Without Rescheduling 
If The MelaMarkets cancels an event without rescheduling, refunds will depend on the event expenses recovered by the organizer. Unrecovered expenses may be deducted from available refunds. 

Rescheduled Events 
If an event is rescheduled and a performer cannot attend the new date, their performance fee will be refunded in accordance with the refund policy in Section 6. 

If the event proceeds as scheduled but a performer chooses not to attend due to weather or personal concerns, the standard cancellation policy in Section 6 applies. 

8. Music, Copyright & Performance Rights 
Performers are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary rights, permissions, licenses, and authorizations for any music, recordings, choreography, visuals, or other copyrighted materials used in their performances. 

Performers must comply with applicable copyright requirements and venue rules. The MelaMarkets may restrict materials or performance elements that violate applicable requirements or interfere with event operations. 

9. Liability & Personal Property 
Performers are responsible for the security and condition of their personal belongings, instruments, equipment, costumes, props, and other property brought to the event. 

The MelaMarkets is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged performer property, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded. 

Performers are responsible for injuries, damages, or losses caused by their actions, equipment, or performance activities. 

To the extent permitted by law, performers agree to release and hold harmless The MelaMarkets, its organizers, volunteers, partners, and participating venues from claims, damages, losses, injuries, or liabilities arising from their participation, except where caused by the negligence or wrongful conduct of the party seeking protection. 

Performers must disclose any special safety requirements associated with their act before the event. 

10. Photography, Video & Media 
By applying to The Muse Mix, performers acknowledge that photography, video, audio, and other recordings may be captured during the event. 

Performers grant The MelaMarkets permission to use recordings and images of their performance, likeness, and participation for organizational, promotional, and marketing purposes, including websites, social media, promotional materials, and future event advertising, without additional compensation unless otherwise agreed in writing. 

Performers who have specific concerns regarding recording or publication must communicate them to The MelaMarkets before the event. Any agreed restrictions must be confirmed in writing. 

11. Agreement & Enforcement 
By submitting a performer application, performers confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions. Additional event-specific instructions provided by The MelaMarkets are also conditions of participation. 

The MelaMarkets reserves the right to enforce these terms, deny or revoke approval, adjust performance schedules, restrict performance activities, or remove performers when necessary to address violations, safety concerns, or other circumstances affecting the event. 

Enforcement is subject to applicable law and the refund policies outlined in these Terms & Conditions.
