Got the "Best Chili on the Beach?" Wanna win cold, hard cash???

 

All you need is $25 and at least 10 gallons of ORIGINAL chili per recipe. (Yes, you may enter multiple recipes.)

 

To enter, fill out your information and pay the $25 entry fee. Spots will go fast, so sign up ASAP... 

 

About the event

24th Annual Lip Rippin’ Chilympics Chili, live music, local vendors, family fun—and a day on the Grand Strand that gives back. Get ready for one of the area’s most anticipated fall family events! On Sunday, November 15, 2026, the Lip Rippin’ Chilympics returns for its 24th year, bringing together local restaurants, individual cooks, music lovers, families, and community supporters for a flavorful day of competition and celebration. Sample some of the best local chili recipes, vote for your favorite, and help crown the “Best Chili on the Beach 2026.” What to expect: · Live music all day · Local food, art, and craft vendors · Craft beers, signature cocktails, seltzers, and sangria · KidsZone fun for the little chili fans · Chili tastings, crowd voting, and serious bragging rights Think your chili has what it takes? Enter your favorite original recipe for a chance to win more than $2,000 in cash and prizes. Want to be part of the fun? Volunteers are welcome, just sign up in the area that fits you best, bring your energy, and help make Chilympics 24 the best one yet. Everyone, bring your friends, your ID, and your spoon—then come hungry for chili, music, and a cause worth supporting. Terms & Conditions

OK ... WHAT IS “CHILI”?


Chili is defined as “any kind of meat or meat combination cooked with peppers, spices, beans and other ingredients except rice, pasta, chips, etc.” 


What you serve for “Peoples’ Choice” is up to you…

However, Judges will not accept anything other than chili, as descibed above…

 

Pre-packaged mixes are not allowed.


You must assemble and cook your recipe on site 11/15 starting no sooner than 8am.

 

Exceptions include canned/bottled tomatoes, tomato sauce/paste, peppers and pepper sauce, beverages, broth, grinding or mixing of spices, soaking your beans etc…

 

NO, you can NOT smoke meats in advance or marry ingredients and/or slow cook them prior to 8am 11/15.


We will let everyone know to light their burners/grills at 8am ...

 

Sorry, we do NOT provide electric hookups.


WHAT TO BRING:


You MUST supply at least 10 gallons of ORIGINAL chili per recipe…

If you enter more than one recipe, then you are responsible for 10 gallons for each recipe…


We will supply chili cups and spoons; everything else is on you …

Bring your own thermometer and hand washing station in accordance with DHEC regulations.

 

Bring a 10x10 pop-up tent; tables and cleaning supplies/trash bags. NOTE: tent weights are required for this event.


Post a sign identifying each recipe you enter separately as well as any unusual ingredients like nuts, chocolate, game meats or shellfish for those with food allergies.

 

Likewise, if you plan to compete for the HOTTEST chili, please be sure to let everyone know ...


CHECK IN:


Set up is 6 - 7:30am Sunday 11/15/25.

Do NOT show up early and block traffic.

We will show you to your spot; no, you may NOT move spots.

Drop off your gear/move your vehicle BEFORE setting up...

ANYONE NOT ON SITE BY 8:00 AM WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.

 

SAMPLING:


To compete for the People's Choice, serve 3 oz samples of chili to the public from 11- 5 p.m.

Serve only 3oz samples, in Chilympics cups, to patrons with an AYCE wristband only; please check for wristbands...

 

Display your Recipe # prominently and encourage the public to vote for you at the Voting Tent BEFORE 5pm...

Best Theme (Recipe Name/Costumes/Decoration)


Winners for every category except People’s Choice are selected by a judges’ panel; People's Choice is determined by popular vote/one vote per person.

 

Winners will receive an original Chilympics trophy and cool PRIZES from our sponsors.

Best Overall and People’s Choice winners will receive $1,000 each.

 

We will announce all of our winners on stage at 5:30pm.


BLIND JUDGING:


Our judges will score each recipe anonymously.

We will give you a notecard with your Recipe # on one side.

Include this notecard with your samples, but…

Do NOT write your team name or identify yourself.

Simply put the notecard on the tray with your samples.

Do NOT interact with the judges prior to judging.


Competing for the Hottest recipe? Let us know in advance…

AND post a sign explaining how hot your chili is, please!


DECORUM:

 

Tailgate, trash talk, and goof off as much as possible, but clean up after yourselves, respect the Zero Footprint Rule, and HAVE A GOOD TIME!!!


Please respect our volunteers, the staff, the community, law enforcement, and the venue.


If you plan on drinking, please drink responsibly and assign a designated driver, carpool, taxi, Uber, or Lyft so everyone gets home safely.

ZERO FOOTPRINT: 

This is a No Plastic/Styrofoam event. Any Styrofoam or single-use plastics like bottled water, for example, are strictly prohibited. This includes to-go containers, cups, bags and utensils. Please.

You are responsible for your spot. Period. Bring trash bags, separate trash and recycling, and keep your spot clean.
