Holiday in the Park 2026 – Art Block Artist Application

Holiday in the Park’s Art Block is a curated showcase of local and regional artists presented as part of Magnolia Park’s annual Holiday in the Park celebration in Burbank.

The theme for the 2026 Art Block is “Art Locally.”

The theme is intentionally broad. Artists are encouraged to interpret “Art Locally” in whatever way feels meaningful to their work — whether that means place, community, identity, neighborhood, culture, environment, personal experience, or simply the idea of creating and sharing art within the local community. There is no single “correct” interpretation, and artists are not expected to create new work specifically for the theme.

Selected artists will be invited to exhibit their work in a dedicated Art Block located on the 2600 block of Magnolia Boulevard during Holiday in the Park on Friday, November 20, 2026.

There is no application fee or participation fee for selected artists. Artists are participating as part of the event’s creative programming. Artwork may be offered for sale, but sales are not required.

We welcome original work in a variety of fine-art mediums, including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, fiber, glass, metal, wood, mixed media, digital art, and other original artist-created work.

This is a juried exhibition. Applicants will be asked to provide examples of their work and information about their artistic practice. Selection will be based on the quality and originality of the work, presentation, and overall fit with the Art Block.

Commercially manufactured products, imported goods, resale merchandise, mass-produced items, and work not substantially created by the applying artist are not eligible.

Applications must be received by October 8, 2026 at 11:59 PM.

Art Block Artist Terms & Conditions

By submitting this application and accepting participation in the Holiday in the Park Art Block, the artist agrees to the following:

1. Original Artwork
All artwork submitted for consideration and exhibited at Art Block must be the artist’s own original work. Commercially manufactured, imported, mass-produced, or resale merchandise is not permitted. Artwork displayed at the event should be reasonably consistent with the work submitted and approved through the jury process.

2. Artist Participation
The accepted artist must personally participate in Art Block and be present for the duration of the event. Holiday in the Park is scheduled for Friday, November 20, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Artists may not dismantle their displays or leave the event before its conclusion except in the case of an emergency or with approval from event organizers.

Artists are responsible for transporting, setting up, supervising, and removing their own artwork and display materials. Setup and load-out instructions, including specific arrival and departure times, will be provided to accepted artists prior to the event.

3. Exhibition Space & Equipment
Art Block will be presented within large communal event tents. Each selected artist will receive approximately the equivalent of a 10' × 10' exhibition area. Exact dimensions and configurations may vary based on the final layout of the exhibition.

Magnolia Park Events anticipates providing shared mobile wire display panels/racks suitable for hanging artwork; however, availability, quantity, and exact configuration are not guaranteed. Artists should be prepared to provide an appropriate alternative means of displaying their work if necessary.

Artists are responsible for providing any additional equipment necessary to safely and appropriately display their work. Tables, chairs, pedestals, display blocks, shelving, easels, specialty fixtures, and other display equipment will not be provided.

All artist-provided displays must remain within the assigned exhibition area and must be stable, safe, and appropriate for use in a crowded public event. Artists with unusual or substantial installation requirements should disclose those requirements in their application so organizers can determine whether they can reasonably be accommodated.

4. Lighting & Electricity
General lighting will be provided within the Art Block to the extent reasonably possible. Artists with specific lighting requirements should plan to provide their own lighting equipment.

Limited electrical power may be available from a nearby generator, but electricity is not guaranteed, and artists should not rely upon event-provided power. Artists requiring independent power are encouraged to use battery-powered equipment or other quiet, non-gas-powered solutions. Gas-powered generators may not be used within the Art Block.

Any electrical equipment brought into the event must be in safe working condition and installed in a manner that does not create a trip, fire, or other safety hazard.

5. Artwork Sales
Artists may sell their artwork during Art Block, but sales are entirely optional and have no bearing on selection or participation.

Magnolia Park Events does not process artist sales and takes no commission or percentage of artwork sales. Artists are solely responsible for conducting their own transactions and for any taxes, permits, reporting, or other obligations that may apply to their individual sales activity.

6. Care of Artwork & Personal Property
Artists participate at their own risk and remain responsible for their artwork, equipment, displays, and personal property throughout the event.

Magnolia Park Events, Holiday in the Park, the City of Burbank, event sponsors, property owners, and participating partners are not responsible for theft, loss, or damage to artwork or other property before, during, or after the event. Artists are responsible for obtaining any insurance they consider appropriate for their artwork and other property.

7. Appropriate Artwork & Displays
Holiday in the Park is a public, all-ages community event attended by adults, families, and children. Artists should take the setting and audience into consideration when determining which pieces from their body of work to exhibit.

Event organizers reserve the right to require the removal of artwork or display materials that are unlawful, unsafe, create a hazard, are substantially different from the work approved through the jury process, or are reasonably determined to be inappropriate for the setting of an all-ages public community event.

The intent of this provision is not to restrict artistic expression, but to recognize the public, all-ages setting in which Art Block takes place.

8. Photography & Promotion
By participating, artists acknowledge that photography and video recording will take place throughout Holiday in the Park. Artists grant Magnolia Park Events and its event partners permission to photograph or record the artist, their exhibition space, and artwork displayed during the event and to use those images or recordings for documentation, publicity, social media, and promotion of Holiday in the Park, Art Block, and related community programs.

This permission does not transfer ownership or copyright of the artist’s artwork to Magnolia Park Events or any event partner.

9. Event Changes or Cancellation
Holiday in the Park is an outdoor public event. Magnolia Park Events reserves the right to modify event hours, layout, artist locations, exhibition arrangements, or other event details when reasonably necessary due to weather, safety concerns, government requirements, emergencies, or circumstances beyond the organizers’ control.

Magnolia Park Events also reserves the right to postpone or cancel all or part of the event when circumstances make it necessary or impractical to proceed. Because there is no application or participation fee for Art Block, no payment, reimbursement, or compensation will be owed to participating artists as a result of such changes or cancellation.

10. Artists Under 18
Artists under the age of 18 are welcome to apply. If selected, participation by a minor requires the consent of a parent or legal guardian. A parent, guardian, or other responsible adult may also be required to accompany the artist during setup, the event, and load-out as determined by event organizers.

11. Accessibility & Accommodations
Magnolia Park Events welcomes artists with disabilities and will make reasonable efforts to accommodate accessibility needs related to participation in Art Block. Artists are encouraged to identify any requested accommodations in the appropriate section of the application so organizers can plan accordingly.

Requests for accessibility accommodations will not be considered as part of the jury’s evaluation of an artist’s work.

12. Compliance with Event Instructions
Accepted artists agree to follow reasonable event instructions regarding check-in, setup, load-in, safety, pedestrian access, exhibition boundaries, event operations, and load-out.

Artists are responsible for maintaining their exhibition areas in a safe condition throughout the event and for following reasonable instructions from event organizers or public-safety personnel. Failure to follow event requirements or these Terms & Conditions may result in removal from Art Block.

13. Acceptance of Terms
Submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance into Art Block. Artist selection is made through the Art Block jury and curatorial process.
