Mountain Makins is an Appalachian Folk Life Festival celebrating the unique culture of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. Known for high quality crafts and artisans, the festival features a juried arts & crafts fair, top regional musical talent, storytellers, authors, craft demonstrations, and children's activities. All activities take place at historic Rose Center. Preview Party- Friday October 25 6:30 pm - 9 pm Festival Days- Saturday & Sunday October 26 & 27, 2024

Parking instructions
Parking is available in the courthouse parking lot on Jackson Street, several City lots downtown, and on the streets surrounding the festival.

This application is the first step towards participating in the 2024 Mountain Makins Festival. Do not use this application if you are a Food Vendor. Please review the following general information and follow all instructions. This is an electronic agreement and by selecting a booth, you are validating and approving this agreement electronically.
 
SET UP HOURS
Thursday, October 24. 9am-6pm
Friday, October 25. 9am-4pm
 
INSIDE BOOTH: $175
Inside booths are 80 square feet. Most are 8'x10'. Some may be another variation (9'x9'). 
If you would like to fill in areas between booths with your display and/or change table and chairs, you can do so for an extra charge of $2 per square foot. This extra area will be determined and charged during set up. NO EXCEPTIONS!

YOUR BOOTH FEES WILL NOT BE CHARGED UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN SENT AN ACCEPTANCE NOTIFICATION.

Categories
Clay: Original clay and porcelain work, functional or sculptural.
Fiber: Includes wearable and non-wearable. No machine-tooled, machine-screen printing, or other forms of mass production are accepted.
Glass: Functional and sculptural work is accepted. Kiln forming, blowing, molding, or casting, as well as cold working processes are permitted. 
Jewelry: must be handmade and show the design and creativity of the maker
Mixed Media: Work which combines materials from two or more mediums in one piece.
Musical Instruments: Handmade instruments.
Natural Materials: This includes basket weaving, chair caning, brooms, gourds, and other works made from materials found in nature.
Photography: Includes traditional film photography, hand-colored images, emulsion transfers, and digital photography. Only artist’s original source material is acceptable.
Printmaking: Only hand-pulled original prints are allowed. Prints must be in limited editions, signed, and numbered.
Sculpture: Three-dimensional work using additive or subtractive processes in a single medium.
Two-Dimensional: Drawing, painting, and digital works. Reproduction prints are not allowed unless originals are for sale.
Wood: Original works that are hand tooled, machine-worked, turned or carved.

We work hard to ensure vendors meet the highest standards in both health and quality. If you would like to participate in Mountain Makins 48th Year, please submit the application form below.
Demonstrators

A special part of the Mountain Makins experience is the chance to watch craftsmen at work, and step back in time, when slower methods were used to make food, tools, and household items. These skills will be on display at the festival all weekend long.If you would like to demonstrate your time honored craft, please fill out an application here and we will be in touch with you with information about further steps.

The award-winning Mountain Makins Festival at historic Rose Center in Morristown, TN is a weekend folk life festival. The festival honors the rich traditions of the past, and supports modern interpretations of those traditions.
