Terms & Conditions

Media Participant Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions are intended to give media participants the freedom to create while protecting our guests, performers, vendors, haunted attractions, staff, volunteers, and the event itself.

By applying for, accepting, or using Halfway To Halloween media credentials, the participant agrees to the following terms.

1. Media Credentials & Approval
All media participation is subject to approval by Halfway To Halloween, LLC.

  • Submitting an application does not guarantee approval, complimentary admission, special access, interviews, backstage access, parking, or other privileges.
  • Credentials are issued to the approved individual and may not be transferred, loaned, sold, or shared.
  • Halfway To Halloween, LLC reserves the right to limit the number of credentials issued to any organization or media outlet.
  • Participants must display their media credential when requested by event staff, security, or participating attractions.

2. Photography & Video
General photography and video recording are permitted in public event areas unless otherwise posted or directed by event staff.

  • A media credential does not automatically grant permission to photograph or record everywhere.
  • Individual haunted attractions, performers, vendors, artists, exhibitors, and other participants may establish their own photography or recording restrictions.
  • Media participants must comply immediately with requests to stop photographing or recording in restricted areas.
  • Flash photography, lighting equipment, tripods, stands, drones, or other equipment may be restricted when they interfere with guest experiences, performances, traffic flow, safety, or attraction operations.

3. Collaborative Haunted House
Media access inside the collaborative haunted attraction may be restricted.

  • Filming, photography, lighting, flash photography, or recording inside the attraction requires permission when designated by Halfway To Halloween or the participating haunt responsible for that area.
  • Media participants may not deliberately reveal upcoming scares to guests, block actors, repeatedly trigger effects for photographs, direct performers without permission, enter actor spaces, interfere with scenes, or otherwise disrupt an attraction.
  • No interference with scares or performances. Our actors are working, please let them scare.
  • Do not sacrifice the guest experience to get the shot.

4. Guests & Minors
Media participants are responsible for using appropriate judgment when photographing, filming, interviewing, or otherwise featuring event guests.

  • Special care must be taken when photographing or interviewing minors. Direct interviews, posed content, or individually focused coverage involving minors should be conducted only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian when appropriate.
  • Media participants must honor reasonable requests from guests who do not wish to participate in an interview or individually focused recording.

5. Performers & Entertainment
A media credential does not automatically grant unrestricted rights to record or redistribute complete performances.

  • Individual performers may establish restrictions regarding photography, video, audio recording, livestreaming, or publication of their performances.
  • Media participants must respect those restrictions.
  • Short clips, photographs, interviews, and promotional coverage may be permitted where authorized; however, recording and publishing an entire performance without permission is prohibited.

6. Interviews
Media participants are encouraged to interview participating haunts, vendors, performers, hearse owners, artists, staff, and other participants.

  • Interviews must not interfere with business operations, performances, haunt operations, guest flow, emergency procedures, or participant responsibilities.
  • Scheduled interviews may be coordinated in advance when necessary.
  • Participation in an interview is always voluntary.

7. Restricted & Behind-the-Scenes Areas
A media credential does not grant unrestricted access to the event grounds.

  • Media participants may not enter staff-only, backstage, storage, preparation, green room, construction, technical, security, medical, operational, or otherwise restricted areas without authorization.
  • This includes areas of the collaborative haunt that are not open to the general public.
  • If an area is marked restricted—or a staff member tells you an area is restricted—it's restricted.

8. Safety
Media participants are responsible for their own safety and the safety of their equipment.

  • Participants must comply with instructions from Halfway To Halloween staff, security personnel, emergency personnel, venue representatives, and authorized attraction personnel.

Media equipment may not obstruct:

  • Walkways or aisles
  • Emergency exits
  • Fire lanes
  • Attraction entrances or exits
  • Performer areas
  • Vendor spaces
  • Vehicle routes
  • Guest queues
  • Accessibility routes
  • Emergency or medical operations

Media participants may not intentionally provoke actors, performers, animals, guests, or other participants for the purpose of obtaining content.

9. Hearses & Vehicles
Media participants are encouraged to photograph and feature participating hearses and specialty vehicles.

  • Do not enter, sit in, touch, lean on, place equipment on, or otherwise interact physically with a participating vehicle without the owner's permission.
  • Vehicle owners may establish additional photography or access restrictions for their displays.

10. Drones & Aerial Photography
Drones and other unmanned aerial equipment are not permitted without prior written authorization from Halfway To Halloween, LLC and any additional authorization required by the venue or applicable law. Possession of a media credential does not constitute drone authorization.

11. Livestreaming
Livestreaming from public areas may be permitted unless otherwise restricted.

  • Livestreaming may not interfere with event operations or reveal restricted areas, backstage operations, proprietary haunt effects, security procedures, or content for which recording permission has not been granted.
  • Halfway To Halloween may require a livestream to stop when necessary for safety, privacy, contractual, operational, or intellectual-property reasons.

12. Respect for Vendors, Artists & Intellectual Property
Halfway To Halloween includes independent artists, makers, designers, haunted attractions, and other creative businesses.

Media participants may photograph booths and products for legitimate event coverage where permitted, but media credentials do not grant rights to reproduce, duplicate, manufacture, sell, or commercially exploit another participant's artwork, designs, products, characters, logos, or intellectual property. Please respect our creators.

13. Professional Conduct
Credentialed media are expected to behave professionally and respectfully.

  • Harassment, bullying, hate speech, discriminatory behavior, threats, dangerous conduct, intentional disruption, unwanted physical contact, or repeated refusal to follow event instructions will not be tolerated.
  • Media credentials do not provide exemption from event rules.

14. Editorial Independence
Halfway To Halloween does not require positive coverage as a condition of receiving media credentials.

  • We welcome fair and independent coverage.
  • However, media participants may not falsely represent themselves as employees, official spokespersons, agents, or representatives of Halfway To Halloween, LLC unless specifically authorized to do so.
  • Opinions expressed by independent media participants remain their own.

15. Use of the Halfway To Halloween Name & Logo
Approval as media does not transfer ownership or general commercial rights to Halfway To Halloween trademarks, logos, graphics, branding, or other intellectual property.

  • Approved event logos or promotional materials may be used for legitimate editorial or promotional coverage of Halfway To Halloween when provided or authorized for that purpose.
  • They may not be used in a manner that falsely suggests sponsorship, endorsement, employment, partnership, or official affiliation.

16. Commercial Photography
Media credentials are intended for event coverage.

  • Commercial photo shoots, paid client sessions, advertising productions, music videos, product shoots, or other commercial productions require prior written approval.
  • A standard media credential does not constitute commercial-production authorization.

17. Equipment & Personal Property
Media participants are solely responsible for cameras, recording equipment, phones, computers, bags, lighting, and other personal property brought onto the event grounds. Halfway To Halloween, LLC and the venue are not responsible for lost, stolen, misplaced, or damaged media equipment or personal property except to the extent liability cannot legally be excluded.

18. Assumption of Risk
Halfway To Halloween includes haunted attractions, theatrical scares, darkness, loud noises, flashing or specialty lighting, fog effects, crowds, outdoor terrain, vehicles, live entertainment, and other activities associated with a Halloween-themed event. Media participants voluntarily assume the ordinary risks associated with attending and covering the event, subject to applicable law. Participants are responsible for determining whether they can safely enter or work within any attraction or environment.

19. Media Created by Halfway To Halloween
Media participants acknowledge that Halfway To Halloween's own photographers and videographers may photograph or record public event activity, including credentialed media participants, consistent with applicable event policies and law. Any separate request by Halfway To Halloween to obtain or reuse a media participant's photographs, video, or other original content will be subject to the creator's permission or an applicable separate agreement. Issuance of a media credential alone does not transfer ownership of a creator's work to Halfway To Halloween.

20. Changes & Operational Decisions
Event schedules, attractions, participants, performers, access areas, media opportunities, and operating procedures are subject to change.

Halfway To Halloween may modify media access when reasonably necessary due to safety, weather, crowd conditions, operational requirements, participant restrictions, or circumstances beyond the event's control.

21. Credential Revocation
Halfway To Halloween reserves the right to revoke media credentials or remove a media participant from restricted media activities for violations of these terms, event policies, venue requirements, safety instructions, or applicable law. Serious or repeated violations may affect eligibility for future media credentials.

Acceptance of Terms
By accepting the Media Participant acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agree to comply with these Media Participant Terms & Conditions and all generally applicable event and venue policies.

Media credentials are a privilege intended to help creators tell the story of Halfway To Halloween while respecting the people who make that story possible.
