2026 Press Application

This application is for any applicants seeking press credentials to cover Matusricon 2026. All applications must be submitted by August 1st, 2025. Badges grant weekend access but not to special ticketed events. All media teams must arrange interviews independently. Accuracy in reporting is crucial, and badges do NOT guarantee interviews or photos with celebrities. Professional conduct is expected; violation leads to badge forfeiture and removal from the event. All approved outlets will be emailed no later than August 5th, 2026 and all bookings or advertisements cannot be made until a confirmation email sent out.

Thank you for your interest in press credentials for the Matsuricon.  Please read the following information BEFORE completing your application.

Due to space restrictions this year, we will only approve TWO badges per media outlet. Traditional media includes local newspapers, national newspapers, college newspapers, magazines, AM radio, FM radio, and local television.  

To be approved as a digital media, the following guidelines must be met.  You must have a website that posts content weekly.  You must have at least 2 social media pages for that website such as Facebook, YouTube, Tumbler, Instagram, TikTok or Twitter.  Total accounts must have more than 20,000 followers.  

If you feel you must have more staff to adequately cover our event, you must purchase the needed amount of tickets.   

Your badges are good for the entire weekend for any event with the exception of special ticketed events.  Press badges will NOT give you access to any event that comes at an added cost (such as Gold/Platinum events, workshops, etc).  If you are interested in attending a special ticket event, you should purchase those tickets on our website. 

We do NOT set up pre-convention interviews with guests if you are non-traditional or digital media.  That is your responsibility.  

Please make sure you report accurately.  If you are doing pre-convention write-ups, please make sure your dates, times, and costs are accurate.

 
Badges do NOT grant or guarantee interviews, photos of or with celebrities, or autographs.  Please ask before taking photographs or videos of ANYONE.  These badges are for professionals.  We expect you to conduct yourself as such. 

If for any reason we feel your behavior does not meet our guidelines and expectations, your badges will be forfeited, all privileges will be lost, and you will be removed from the convention for the remainder of the event.
