Terms & Conditions

RULES GOVERNING THE COMPETITION:

 

 The competition is run and conducted according to RSOBHD rules.

 

·     First to enter, last to dance.

 

·     All judge’s decisions are final.

 

·     In the event of a protest, a fee of $25 must accompany the written complaint. The fee will be returned if the protest is upheld.

 

·     All dancers must report when called or will forfeit entry in that event.

 

·     Dancers must show their 2026 dancer registration card or may not compete. Photocopies or photographs are not permitted.

 

·     Age is computed as of date of competition. Proof of age must be provided if requested.

 

·     Trophies will be awarded in each category (except Primary) and will be based on overall aggregate points. Medals will be awarded in all Pre-Premier categories. Cash prizes will be awarded for Premier categories. Dancers must be in costume to receive awards.

 

·     Age groups will be determined by organizer based on entries received.

 

·     Depending upon the number of entries received, the organizer reserves the right to change the schedule (with prior notice), combine or split age groups.

 

·     Event held rain or shine.

 

·     No Field entries accepted; NO REFUNDS. All fees must be in US currency.

 

·     It is the dancer’s responsibility to abide by the Three-Month Rule (may not have taken any classes, Skype lessons, workshops, etc. with the judge for the event).

 

·     Most Promising Beginner & Novice awards will be presented and is the judge’s decision.

 

·     The competition will begin with the Premier Scotch Measure Challenge and is a separate event that is open to Premier dancers of all ages. This dance will NOT count towards the aggregate points for group trophy, but would count as a placing that could entitle a dancer for the Dancer-of-the-Day Award.

 

·     Beginner & Novice Trophy Flings: The Beginner and Novice Trophy Flings are separate events and open to Beginner and Novice dancers of all ages in their respective categories. Both Trophy Flings will occur at the conclusion of the regular competition’s dancing, just prior to awards. The Trophy Flings will NOT count toward the aggregate points for group trophy, but a dancer may earn a stamp for this dance pursuant to the RSOBHD’s Rules.

 

·     Intermediate Hornpipe Challenge: The Intermediate Hornpipe Challenge is a separate event and open to Intermediate dancers of all ages. The Intermediate Hornpipe Challenge will occur at the conclusion of the regular competition’s dancing, following the Novice Trophy Fling, just prior to awards. The Intermediate Hornpipe Challenge will NOT count toward the aggregate points for group trophy, but a dancer may earn a stamp for this dance, pursuant to the RSOBHD’s Rules.

 

·    Dancer-of-the-Day Award: All Premier dancers receiving a first or second place award in any dance may compete in a 4-step Fling to determine the winner of the Dancer of the Day award. The dance off will occur following the award presentation. The Dancer of the Day will be awarded immediately following the dance off.

 

GENERAL RELEASE, WAIVER & COVENANT NEVER TO SUE:

 

IN CONSIDERATION of my registration, or the registration of my minor child or minor ward (of whom I am legal guardian) (“Participant”) herein named to compete in the event(s) as set forth on the entry form, and for myself, my child or ward, and my and his or her heirs, successors and assigns, I and such minor, hereby waive and release and covenant never to sue the Middle Tennessee Highland Games Inc., its promoters, directors, committee members, workers, volunteers, agents, servants, representatives, and sponsors, their heirs, successors and assigns (“MTHG”) of, from and for any and all liability, claims, demands, actions and course of action whatsoever arising out of or related to any loss, damage or injury including, without limitation, death sustained by me or my minor child or ward or any property of either of us, while in, on, upon or en route to or from the premises where the Middle Tennessee Highland Games are held and I further agree to indemnify and hold harmless the MTHG from and against any and all claims asserted by any person by reason of my or my minor child’s or minor ward’s, participation in the events listed herein whether or not claimed to have resulted from the negligence of MTHG.

 

Competitor expressly grants permission to MTHG, its successors, assigns and designees to use any aural or visual depiction of Competitor’s name, image, likeness, or any combination thereof that results from the Competitor’s involvement in or performance of the competitions contemplated under this Release and Indemnity Agreement for any purpose whatsoever without any compensation of any type to Competitor or the Competitor’s successors or assigns. Participant agrees and consents to his/her/their information being used by the organizers of the MTHG Highland Dancing competition for future marketing communications.
