Discover the world of books and enjoy family-friendly activities at the eighth annual Books in Bloom festival, hosted by the Downtown Columbia Partnership (DTCP) and Howard Hughes. Join us on Saturday, May 11th, from 11:30 am to 5 p.m. at Color Burst Park, located in the heart of the vibrant Merriweather District of Downtown Columbia. Books in Bloom is known as one of the region's most progressive book festivals, but that isn’t all. It's also a celebration of diversity, inclusion, and the power of storytelling to unite generations and cultures. This free event invites families and book lovers of all ages to revel in a day filled with captivating readings, interactive activities, and engaging discussions. Whether you're a seasoned bookworm or just looking for a day of family fun, Books in Bloom promises a unique way to experience it all. Join us as we celebrate the beauty of literature and the joy of community at Color Burst Park on May 11th. Be one of the first 200 guests on-site and receive a signature journal. Even if you miss the signature journals, still make your way to our guest services tent to receive a raffle ticket for the chance to win all of the books featured in this year's festival! *Must RSVP to receive the journal and raffle ticket for the book giveaway. Books in Bloom welcomes book club groups to register for a VIP Mimosa Meet-Up to mix & mingle with other literary enthusiast and get access exclusive access to the Prose Pavillion before everyone else featuring:

  • 1st 100 book club guest onsite receive FREE copy of debut author, Natasha Alford's book "American Negra" (while supplies last)
  • Light Bites from out local restaurants
  • Mimosa Bar
  • Live Music
  • Photo Op
  • Raffle ticket for chance to win a copy of one of the Books in Bloom author's featured books

*NOTE: All organized clubs need to be registered for recognition at the Mimosa Meet-Up. Club registration is COMPLIMENTARY.
