Bestival's ONES TO WATCH contest

Belmont Village Bestival is excited to announce our first annual “Ones to Watch” contest.

Now in our 8th year, we’re on the search for homegrown singer/songwriters that may be flying under the radar. At Bestival, we strive to provide an inclusive platform for homegrown musicians to shine and we want to encourage the growth of independent preforming artists close to home.

The Bestival Board of Directors will choose 4 applicants to perform two songs at our annual fundraiser April 6th, 2024. The audience will then decide, via ballot, who will win a paid performance at our opening ceremonies September 14th, 2024, on one of our main stages, $500 cash and a Belmont Village Prize pack valued at $250.

Deadline for Submissions: - March 17th, 2024

How to Enter:

• Complete online application form through our website

• Provide 2 songs with entry. If you are one of the chosen applicants, you will perform these

  two songs, live on stage, April 6th, at our annual fundraiser

Contest Rules:

• Contestants are required to enter two original songs. (Entries containing only one song, or more than two songs will be disqualified).

• Participants must be at least 15 years old and live in the province of Ontario, Canada

• Recordings submitted must be representative of the artist’s live performance and include only one instrument, one voice (the songwriter’s vocal), and no backup harmonies.

• Produced recordings or instrumental-only songs are NOT accepted.

• Co-written songs are accepted; however, only one of the writers may submit an application

  and perform the song on the recording.

• The artist’s name, biographical information, or credits cannot be included in the recordings.

• By entering the contest, the songwriter certifies they have all rights to the songs and that the

  songs have not been sold or contractually assigned to another entity.

• Each song must NOT exceed five (5) minutes.

• As a finalist, you must perform the two (2) songs submitted in the contest. You may choose

  to perform solo or invite a single accompanist, however the performance can only include

  one instrument, one voice (the songwriter’s vocal) and no backup harmonies.

• A total of four finalists will be selected and invited to perform at our annual Belmont Village

  Bestival Fundraiser, April 6, 2024, and if selected as the winner by audience vote, an opportunity to perform at our opening Bestival ceremonies September 14th, 2024, on one of our main stages

   

   

   

   

   

Prize/Award: Valued at $1000

• 4 applicants will be selected to perform two songs at our annual fundraiser April 6th, 2024

• After all performances are complete, the audience will get to vote on their favourite

  performance. The winner will receive a cash prize of $500, a Belmont Village Prize Pack ($250 value) and they will have an opportunity to perform at our opening Bestival ceremonies September 14th, 2024, on one of our main stages ($250 performance fee)
