Purple-Green Pouch Vase with Scallop Top

I use a high-fired porcelain clay body, rendering this form very robust. The vase is entirely hand-built using slab construction. The vase features a textural, patterned surface created by applying several layers of hand-colored porcelain slip over hand-drawn designs in wax resist. It is further enhanced with underglazes to highlight parts of the design with spots of color. The bottom part of the vase and these highlights of underglaze color are covered with a transparent clear gloss glaze. This piece has been fired multiple times in an electric kiln...all of the decoration is permanent.  My signature is on the decorated underside of the vase as each piece is a complete original!
