Description
This is a life size etching of a Painted Bunting, the most colorful songbird in North America. Being an attractive bird comes with a price, they were caught and sold to collectors in Europe since the early 19th century, and to this day conservation groups still must protect them.
This etching is hand-made on 1 copper plate, using 2 different ink colors. In addition to the Arches rag paper used for the etching, the inks and paints employed to create the etching are of the highest quality. Each etching requires over and hour to paint with transparent watercolors. Because of all the hand work involved, no two pieces are exactly the same. Archivally framed and matted with Museum glass, 8 ply rag mat board and beautiful champagne moulding. This glass protects the art from fading and greatly reduces the reflections. Sealed on the back with a hanging wire ready to hang.
