About the event

The Texas Onion Fest celebrates the development of the world famous Texas 1015 Onion which was developed in Weslaco and is also the State Vegetable of Texas! The name of the 1015 onion came from the suggested planting date, October 15. Texas Onion Fest is sponsored by the Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce. The festivities include live entertainment on two stages, the exciting Onion Eating Contest, delicious food, commercial booths, kiddie rides, Dancing Horses, 1015 Market, Car Show, cooking demonstrations, and so much more!

Terms & Conditions

By submitting this application you agree to the following terms: -Volunteers will receive an event T-shirt, these will be on a first come first serve basis. -I understand and agree that the Texas Onion Festival, City of Weslaco and Weslaco Chamber of Commerce is not responsible for any injury or property damage arising out of the Volunteer Activities, even if caused by their ordinary negligence or otherwise. -I understand and agree that the Volunteer Activities involves certain risks, including, but not limited to, serious injury and death. I am voluntarily participating in the Volunteer Activities with knowledge of the danger involved and I agree to accept all risks of participation. -I understand and agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Texas Onion Festival, City of Weslaco and Weslaco Chamber of Commerce for all claims arising out of my participation in the Volunteer Activities. -I understand and agree that this document is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by the laws of the state in which the Volunteer Activities take place and agree that if any portion of this Agreement is invalid, the remainder will continue in full legal force and effect. -I understand and agree that the Texas Onion Festival, City of Weslaco and Weslaco Chamber of Commerce have do not carry any insurance of any kind for my benefit or that of Volunteer (if Volunteer is under 18), my parents, guardians, trustees, heirs, execu-tors, administrators, successors and assigns. I represent that, to my knowledge, I am in good health and suffer no physical impairment that would or should prevent my participation in Volunteer Activities. -I understand and agree that this document is a contract which grants certain rights to and eliminates the liability of the Texas Onion Festival, City of Weslaco and Weslaco Chamber of Commerce. -Photo Release: The Texas Onion Festival will capture photo, video, etc. I give my consent to the Texas Onion Festival/Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce to use my name and image to promote the Texas Onion Festival/Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce and/or their activities.
