About the event

Memphis in May International Festival is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community-based organization that produces two (2) of the largest events in the City of Memphis; the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest and the Great American River Run. The World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest is a four (4) day pork barbecue cooking competition and festival that draws over 15,000 patrons each day and over 150 competitors from 22 different states and 7 foreign countries each year. The Great American River Run is a one (1) day athletic competition consisting of a 5k, 10k and Half-Marathon race throughout downtown Memphis with over 2,000 competitors each year.
