About the event

The North Carolina Fossil Festival celebrates the Aurora Fossil Museum and the rich fossil record of North Carolina. Join us for a family-friendly event steeped in tradition and good old-fashioned southern charm. Activities include digging for fossils, fossil displays, fossil auction, educational displays by partner nonprofit organizations, mining & engineering zone, parade, live entertainment, food, craft, & fossil vendors, dinosaur shows, foam party, and much, much more!

About the application

Every journey begins with setting up, and our festival is no different. We will need help to prepare the 2025 North Carolina Fossil Festival for its grand adventure! Set-Up Volunteers will help with the following: -- Arrange tables, chairs, and tents in their respective places -- Placing signage and hanging banners -- Assist with other tasks that will prepare the festival for the rest of the weekend Volunteer Perks: 4+ hours: A 2025 NC Fossil Festival Crew shirt! 6+ hours: Receive lunch on us and a 2025 NC Fossil Festival Crew shirt! 12+ hours: Receive lunch on us, a 2025 NC Fossil Festival Crew shirt, and a 2025 NC Fossil Festival shirt! 20+ hours: Receive all of the above, PLUS A 2025 NC FOSSIL FESTIVAL CHALLENGE COIN! Each volunteer slot is on a first-come, first-serve basis. So sign up ASAP! Please see below to sign up for a shift (or two).

Please read all the information below before beginning your application. As a volunteer, you are responsible for understanding all Terms and Conditions. You agree to all North Carolina Fossil Festival Terms and Conditions by submitting your application. -- Applying does not guarantee acceptance to help during the festival. -- Only applications submitted through this webpage will be accepted. -- Applications are due by 6 pm EST on May 17, 2025. -- Volunteers will be notified via email of the decision. -- Following the approval email, the approved volunteers will receive information regarding volunteer introduction training date and check-in locations. By submitting this application, I agree to hold the Aurora Fossil Museum Foundation, Inc., the Town of Aurora, and the North Carolina Fossil Festival harmless for any injury or loss to any person, equipment, property, or goods for any cause whatsoever. I also agree that the stated organizations cannot be held responsible for any claims for damage, injury, or loss arising from or in connection with and during the North Carolina Fossil Festival. Volunteers not adhering to the terms and conditions will be asked to leave and will not be allowed to participate in future North Carolina Fossil Festivals.
