Call For Volunteers - Riverdale Artwalk 2024

This is a flexible role with flexible timing and locations. Leading up to event you will be distributing postcards. Options include: - Marketing material distribution to local merchants in the Queen St. E. area (walking) - Marketing material distribution throughout key targeted area and institutions, including: galleries, museums, Cabbage Town, art & framing stores, Open Doors locations, real estate agents, Danforth (Broadview – Jones), King and Queen btw Bay & Spadina, hotels, designers. Postcards and flyers available at the Leslie Grove Gallery / Artists' Network offices or by special arrangement.

Assembling Artist Packages at Artists' Network HQ, Leslie Grove Gallery in Leslieville. You will help to collate all of the elements that make up the artists packages including: Laminating name tags, booth signs, collating letters, guides and label envelopes under the direction of the Office Manager, Show Producer and Artist Liaison Coordinator.

Working alongside the show Producer, volunteers will help to map out the tent positions for event day using chalk spray paint to mark the 10 x 10 booths. Gloves are provided but we do recommend wearing comfortable clothes and sneakers that you don't mind getting mucky.

You will help manage the logistics of load-in by directing traffic and watching art and materials for artists while they load-in to curb side, park, then return and move material from curb to booth location in park. Artists' Network do not require you to do any lifting or moving of materials as the artists are responsilbe for this themselves, however, being able to lift up to 20lbs would be helpful as from time to time we may need to move objects from one position to another. Please note: Not being able to lift 20lbs does not reflect negatively on your application.

Assist with general park set up including: Artists’ Network Booth (signage, garbage and recycling bins…) Volunteers may be asked to watch Artists materials at curb side while they load in for the first hour and a half of the shift and successful applicants will be flexible, friendly and calm under pressure.

Your main role will be to support the Communications Coordinator for the event. This role would suit a media student or person with previous event media experience. You will be required to use your own equipment for taking videos / photographs, e.g. iPhone. This role requires you to be available for both days of the event and you will be required to have an interview with the Communications Coordinator.

Supporting the Show Producer your role will be varied and involve a lot of interacting with artists, event organisers, venue management, other volunteers and the general public. Because of the nature of this role your activities will be varied, and you will be kept very busy. This role will require and interview and is targeted towards specific volunteers who have helped us deliver an exciting event at either Riverdale ArtWalk or other Artists' Network events. This role will require you to be available both days of the event.

Supporting the Communications team you will capture important moments during the event including: Opening Celebrations at 11:00 am; Artists' Network Booth; General park activity including purchases and visitors engaged with art/artists. As part of a team of volunteers you will capture up to 200 photos & some videos to be taken on each shift, from which the Communications Coordinator will choose for social media posts. Your goal is to give an overview of the show including our volunteers in action, Artists booths and happy visitors. This role requires previous experience and an interview.
