About the event

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall is one of the most visited war memorials in Washington, D. C., and is dedicated to the 58, 281 U.S. servicemembers who fought and died in the Vietnam War. The Wall is also called the ‘Wall that Heals’ as it brings honor, respect, and healing to those who served during this difficult time in our history. The traveling Wall is 3/4 scale size of the original in Washington, D.C. and is accompanied by a Mobile Education Center.

About the application

Volunteering at the Wall is a unique opportunity to honor the men and women who served in the Vietnam War, by helping to bring this powerful symbol of sacrifice to our community. Join us as a volunteer in this solemn tribute to recognize, remember, and learn from the bravery and sacrifice of our Vietnam veterans. As a volunteer, you will support activities ranging from set-up/clean-up, Wall Ambassadors, guiding visitors in locating names listed on the Wall, supporting the Mobile Education Center, or helping with the volunteer tent. No experience is required, just a willingness to learn and contribute to this meaningful cause.

Terms & Conditions

1. Commitment to Honor: By volunteering, you commit to more than assisting with an event; you dedicate yourself to honoring the sacrifices of Vietnam veterans and their families. 2. Availability: As “The Wall That Heals” is open 24/7, rain or shine, your commitment to being available for your shift at any hour is crucial. 3. Team Contribution: Your involvement signifies joining a collective effort that embodies our core values of Unity, Respect, and Focus. 4.Desired Qualities: In line with our core values, we seek volunteers who embody: Dependability, Reliability, Responsiveness, Responsibility, Physical Capability, and Respectfulness. 5. Training: The Volunteer training session is scheduled for Wednesday, September 18th, at 6 p.m. at Charter Oak Park, Manchester and attendance is strongly encouraged. You will receive an enhanced tour along with cheat sheets to help with the guests. We plan to assign a lead volunteer for each shift. 6. Multiple Shifts: You are welcome to sign up for more than one shift, provided that the times do not overlap and you feel confident in your ability to commit to the hours selected. *Please note: This platform is exclusively for signing up for volunteer shifts at "The Wall That Heals". It is not related to, nor is it a registration for, any ceremonies or events*
