Volunteers must be at least 16 at the start of the convention.
All volunteers will receive a t-shirt to use while volunteering.
Volunteers who can help for 1 day receive access on the day they volunteer.
Volunteers who are able to help 2 or more days will receive full weekend access.
Volunteers who can help all 3 days are given priority while scheduling.
Other benefits may be added as we get closer to the convention.
This Volunteer Policy covers all events and occurrences before, during and after the GalactiCon (“Convention”), including but not limited to set-up and registration prior to, and break-down after the Convention, and all sessions, seminars, meetings, parades, concerts, meals and all activities, whether on or off the premises of one of the Convention hotels, as well as my travel to and from the Convention (together, “Service Activities”).
I represent to the Convention operator, Macterprise LLC. and its officers and employees, that: (i) I understand that I am a volunteer, and not an employee of the Convention or Macterprise LLC. and that I will not be paid any money or other item of value for any of my Service Activities; and (ii) I am physically and mentally fit and able to perform the activities assigned to me, with no limitations. If I am a person with a disability volunteering for the event, I certify that I am able to perform the activities assigned to me notwithstanding any disabling condition I may have.
I agree that (i) I will abide by all policies and instructions of Macterprise LLC. and its employees; and (ii) Macterprise LLC. may terminate my service as a volunteer at will, at any time, and for any reason, without compensation to me.
I also agree that, (i) Macterprise LLC. and the Convention will not provide me or my dependents with any worker’s compensation insurance, health insurance, dental or vision insurance, or any medical insurance whatsoever, and that all such insurance shall be my responsibility; and (ii) if I have concerns about my health or ability to participate in Service Activities, or any limitations for such participation, it is my responsibility to discuss any concerns with my physician before participating as a volunteer, and to inform Macterprise LLC. in writing of any limitations in my ability to participate. I assume the risk of all injuries or illnesses that may occur to me or to my property as part of any Service Activities.
I hereby waive any and all claims that I may ever have against the Convention, Macterprise LLC, and its owners, officers, employees, agents, sponsors, other volunteers or Convention guests (together, “Convention Participants”), for any reason, including any injury to my person or property that may occur as a result of any Service Activities. I agree to indemnify and hold harmless all Convention Participants for any injury or damage I may cause.
If I require emergency medical treatment, I give my permission to licensed medical personnel to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide medicine and medical care to me. I waive any claim I may ever have against any person or entity who renders medical care or treatment to me. I agree to accept full financial responsibility for all care and treatment provided to me.
Additionally, I acknowledge that under law, there is no liability for an injury or death of an individual on or off the premises of one of the Convention hotels if such injury or death results from the inherent risks of contracting COVID-19. I accept that I am assuming the risk by entering the premises and participating in Convention activities. I also acknowledge that there is a risk of injury or death from Covid-19 that I may contract during my travel to or from the Convention. I accept the risk of contracting Covid-19 or transmitting Covid-19 to others as a result of travel to or from the Convention.
