I, the undersigned agree to serve as a volunteer at GalaxyCon Richmond 2024.(the “Convention”) on the terms of this Volunteer Agreement. This Agreement covers all events and occurrences before, during and after the Convention, including but not limited to set-up and registration prior to, and break-down after the Convention, and all sessions, seminars, meetings, concerts, meals and all activities, whether on or off the premises of one of the Convention hotels, as well as my travel to and from the Convention (together, “Service Activities”).
I represent to the Convention operator, GalaxyCon LLC. and its officers and employees, that: (i) I understand that I am a volunteer, and not an employee of the Convention or GalaxyCon LLC. and that I will not be paid any money or other item of value for any of my Service Activities; and (ii) I am physically and mentally fit and able to perform the activities assigned to me, with no limitations. If I am a person with a disability volunteering for the event, I certify that I am able to perform the activities assigned to me notwithstanding any disabling condition I may have.
I agree that (i) I will abide by all policies and instructions of GalaxyCon LLC. and its employees; and (ii) GalaxyCon LLC. may terminate my service as a volunteer at will, at any time, and for any reason, without compensation to me.
I also agree that, (i) GalaxyCon LLC. and the Convention will not provide me or my dependents with any worker’s compensation insurance, health insurance, dental or vision insurance, or any medical insurance whatsoever, and that all such insurance shall be my responsibility; and (ii) if I have concerns about my health or ability to participate in Service Activities, or any limitations for such participation, it is my responsibility to discuss any concerns with my physician before participating as a volunteer, and to inform GalaxyCon LLC in writing of any limitations in my ability to participate. I assume the risk of all injuries or illnesses that may occur to me or to my property as part of any Service Activities.
I hereby waive any and all claims that I may ever have against the Convention, GalaxyCon LLC, and its owners, officers, employees, agents, sponsors, other volunteers or Convention guests (together, “Convention Participants”), for any reason, including any injury to my person or property that may occur as a result of any Service Activities. I agree to indemnify and hold harmless all Convention Participants for any injury or damage I may cause.
If I require emergency medical treatment, I give my permission to licensed medical personnel to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide medicine and medical care to me. I waive any claim I may ever have against any person or entity who renders medical care or treatment to me. I agree to accept full financial responsibility for all care and treatment provided to me.
Additionally, I acknowledge that under law, there is no liability for an injury or death of an individual on or off the premises of one of the Convention hotels or GalaxyCon venues if such injury or death results from the inherent risks of contracting COVID-19. I accept that I am assuming the risk by entering the premises and participating in GalaxyCon activities. I also acknowledge that there is a risk of injury or death from Covid-19 that I may contract during my travel to or from the Convention or any GalaxyCon venues. I accept the risk of contracting Covid-19 or transmitting Covid-19 to others as a result of travel to or from the Convention or any GalaxyCon LLC venue.
