KuroNeko Cultural Association (referred to herein as KNCA) hosts all-ages events and we desire to foster a positive and encouraging environment where all participants can enjoy a safe, fun, and memorable event. KNCA welcomes diversity of races, genders, ages, sexual preferences, and personal beliefs. In pursuit of this KNCA will attempt to limit or prohibit behavior which makes participants feel unsafe or unwelcome or that which it deems inappropriate for persons under the age of 18. Individuals whose actions violate KNCA’s policies may face disciplinary strikes or removal from the event. Violations of law will be referred to law enforcement.
By volunteering for KNCA you are agreeing to follow the Code of Conduct
Code of Conduct – KuroNekoCon
As a volunteer you are part of the 'face' of KuroNekoCon, and we expect you to act kindly, politely and professionally at all times. How you present yourself impacts the experience of our attendees, and we want all of our experiences at KNC to be positive ones!
We strive to provide a safe and healthy environment for KNC attendees. For KuroNekoCon 2023, all non-attendee badge-holders, which includes volunteers, will be required to wear a mask in convention space.
In order to receive a complimentary badge to KNCA, Volunteers will be required to spend right (8) hours total volunteering and must attend all days of the convention across one to three (1-3) days of the convention.
A schedule will be provided for you at the convention. You are to keep to this schedule unless told otherwise by the Volunteer Coordinator.
Be on time to every shift. In the event that you might be more than a couple minutes late, you must contact the volunteer coordinator. They reserve the right to handle the issue as they see fit.
We will not allow the use of any devices that may distract you from the needs of our attendees. This includes but is not limited to headphones and handheld gaming devices. However we encourage you to keep your cell phone with you.
Please keep personal items and/or projects off of work stations.
Should an issue arise that you don't know how to handle or you have any questions about, ask a staff member for help or call the Volunteer Coordinator.
Unless accompanied by a staff member, you are not permitted to enter or store personal belongings in any staff-only areas.
If you are not scheduled or asked to assist in an area, please do not take it upon yourself to step in without seeking instruction from a staff member who is present.
You are not qualified to make executive decisions unless given explicit permission from a staff member or the Volunteer Coordinator. This includes the removal of attendees from the convention, changes to any schedules, etc. Any ideas or suggestions can be brought to a staff member’s attention.
Thank you for choosing to help us maintain a safe and friendly environment at KuroNekoCon. Your help makes this convention possible. Let’s make this year a great one!
Volunteer Three Strikes Policy
Infractions of policies established by KNCA will garner a record in the form of a “strike” marked against the Volunteer. Volunteers are allotted three infractions before they are banned from volunteering for KNCA events. Explanation of each strike is as follows.
Strike One (1) will serve as a first warning. No limitations will be placed on the Volunteer.
Strike Two (2) will serve as a second and final warning.
Strike Three (3) will result in immediate revocation of your volunteer badge without refund (if applicable), and a ban from volunteering for KNCA events.
KNCA may issue a strike for any reason it deems necessary and may issue it several months after the initial infraction.
At the time each strike is issued, the volunteer will be asked to sign a Notice of Volunteer Infraction verifying their knowledge of the strike marked against them.
Signing this form is not required but refusal to sign will result in an automatic third strike and action will be taken as described above.
Length of the ban will take into account the severity of the incident(s) that lead up to the third strike.
If you believe that a strike has been wrongly issued to you, an appeal must be sent within six weeks of the infraction issue date. After review of your appeal the decision by KNCA is final. Refusal to sign will be taken into account in the event of an appeal.
Strikes issued against a volunteer are separate from those issued against the same volunteer as an attendee. Depending on the severity of the incident resulting in the infraction, Attendee strike(s) may also be issued against the volunteer.
This policy may be updated without notification.
