About the application

This application is for those who are interested in volunteer scare acting, but who are either trying it for the first time or are still new to the trade! HauntFest will be hosting a FREE scare acting class and makeup tutorial on Friday and Saturday before the haunt. In this class, you will learn tips and tricks on how to scare, get in full makeup/costume, find your scene in the trail, and be assigned a seasoned scare actor to help you build your character before the trail opens. You will have the opportunity to practice scaring patrons in the festival grounds before the trail, as well. For costume, volunteers are asked to bring a comfortable outfit that can be DESTROYED. These clothing items will be ripped, stained, and covered in dirt and fake blood. Volunteers taking this class will all play a similar role in the haunt, but you will all have your own individual character. Story summary: Campers were tricked by their witchy friend into casting a spell that makes their worst fears come to life. You are all the campers. There will be different fear areas, as well as a laser tag aspect to this. Your character will be tormented in one of the fear areas by other actors. **NOTE: If you would rather be a different character other than a camper, please complete the Experienced Scare Actor form instead! Volunteers get FREE entry into the event each day, the FREE acting/makeup class, and access to our Volunteer area with FREE snacks & drinks. During the festival, you can scuttle around in full costume on the festival grounds to spook the guests. Jump scares are welcome, but do not be physically violent. Do not touch patrons unless it is as mundane as a tap on the shoulder. Do not scare or bother people who obviously are bothered (in not a fun way). Do not scare people WITHIN vendor booths - only isles and in the field. There will be a haunted trail through the woods at this event that will open later in the evening! We will also be offering a "Night Terrors" event for people camping in a certain area on Saturday night, where actors can mess with them at their campsite (appropriate physical contact for scaring purposes if consented). This is for experienced Scare Actors only, but please contact us if you would like to be involved in this experience.
