About the event

Membership with the Powder Springs Active Adults Center is for active and independent adults aged 55 and older. Our center is a vibrant community hub designed to help older adults remain socially engaged, physically active, and independent. We prioritize programs for: Fostering Social Connections: Combating loneliness by creating meaningful peer relationships through group events, luncheons, and interest clubs. Supporting Healthy Aging: Providing a safe, accessible environment for independent adults to maintain physical and mental vitality. Connecting to Resources: Acting as a bridge to wellness resources and community resources.

About the application

Attention Active Adults...We need you! All of your life experience and expertise can serve our Active Adult Center in a BIG way. Consider joining our Volunteer Team and helping lead our center and programming into the future. But you won’t be overworked and you won’t be alone. Our staff commits to supporting your role in the following ways: - Only work the days and in areas in which you feel comfortable. - Staff will conduct quarterly Volunteer Lunch Meetings to get your opinion on ways we can make appropriate changes and improvements. - We commit to on-going training so that you feel equipped in your role. - Active Adult Center Volunteers will be recognized annually in December at our city-wide Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. - You will receive a Name Badge and Volunteer Shirt to wear on your shifts to designate you as a member of the Volunteer Team.

Do you have a skill or passion that you would like to teach and share? We'd love to have you lead periodic classes and/or activities here as a volunteer! Classes and/or activities will be coordinated with you personally to insure they fit in with your schedule.\r\n\r\nRoutine Tasks:\r\n- conduct 6-week sessions on a topic of your choosing; some activities may be one day workshops or even sessions in any number you create\r\n- plan sessions and coordinate with staff to determine class budget and fees\r\n\r\nFrequency: 3 times/year
