About the event

Join us on December 6th, 2026 for Christmas on Green Street! Join the City of Gainesville for our annual Christmas on Green Street celebration! This magical event includes a parade of antique cars, holiday floats, and marching bands starting at the Gainesville Civic Center and continuing all the way down Green Street! Before the parade, Green Street will be closed while people visit the historic homes and enjoy musical groups performing on front porches, magicians, face painters, balloon artists, storyteller, jugglers, Santa Claus, miniature train rides, and food trucks. The night will end with the Christmas on Green Street Parade and the traditional Lighting of the Rotary Tree at approximately 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Green Street and West Academy Street!

We will have a mandatory volunteer meeting on Wednesday, Dec 2nd at 11:30am at City Hall to pick up volunteer vest and have a quick review roles for the event. City Volunteer PTO reminders (Explore in detail @ https://www.gainesville.org/239/Employees) Volunteer PTO accrual applies only to time worked outside of regular work hours (based on employees working 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday) Participants will receive 1.5 PTO hours for every hour volunteered Employees flexing their time for an event are not eligible Employees eligible may receive a max of 22.5 hours of PTO per year through volunteering – it’s your responsibility to know whether you are approaching or have already met this limit
