By submitting this application, you agree to the following terms. All applications must be filled out completely and accurately; incomplete or inaccurate applications may delay or disqualify your acceptance.
All staff members must be 18 years of age or older at the time of the convention. You will receive a response to your application within one to two weeks of submission.
You agree to fulfill the hour requirements of your selected commitment level: Level 1 (Light) requires 6–8 hours of staffing over the weekend, and Level 2 (Standard) requires 15 or more hours split across the days of the convention. Staff benefits are contingent on completing your committed hours. If you are unable to complete your committed hours, you must notify convention leadership at least two weeks prior to the event. Staffers who fail to complete their hours or do not show up without providing this notice may not be invited to return or staff future events.
Level 1 staffers receive a free weekend-long pass, a free convention item from con sales, and a food voucher. Level 2 staffers receive all Level 1 benefits plus the option of shared staff room lodging. Staff rooms are available to Level 2 staffers only, are shared with up to 3 other staffers, and are available Thursday through Saturday night only. Rooming sign-up and information will be sent out in March. Panelists, Event Hosts, GMs, and Storytellers are not considered full staff; in compensation for running an event at the convention, panelists receive a free weekend badge only and are not eligible for full staff benefits.
As a staff member, you represent PortConMaine and are expected to model the convention's standards at all times. This means treating all attendees, fellow staffers, and hotel personnel with respect and decency, regardless of age, size, shape, color, fandom, gender, or orientation. Harassment, discrimination, fighting, or malicious behavior of any kind will not be tolerated. Staff must follow all convention rules and policies, including the prohibition on drugs, alcohol, and real weaponry in convention areas, as well as all hotel rules and applicable state laws. Staff are also expected to help maintain a safe and welcoming environment—if you see something, say something, and report any safety concerns promptly. Convention leadership reserves the right to revoke staff status and/or convention membership at any time for violation of these terms or the convention's rules and policies, and benefits may be forfeited upon removal.
Staff information is shared via the staff Discord (access granted upon acceptance) and by email. Staff meetings are held but are not required; all meeting information will be made available on Discord. All staff members have access to staff events throughout the year.
