Volunteer Terms & Conditions
This Volunteer Agreement (“Agreement”) is effective as of September 12, 2026, between Sunnyside Music Festival (“Organization”) and the undersigned volunteer (“Volunteer”), and will expire at the conclusion of the Volunteer’s assigned shift(s) on that date.
The Volunteer agrees to donate their time and services, and the Organization agrees to accept such voluntary services under the following terms:
1. Volunteer Status
The Volunteer acknowledges and agrees that:
They are providing services on a voluntary basis and will receive no wages, compensation, or employee benefits.
They are not an employee, contractor, or agent of the Organization.
Nothing in this Agreement creates an employment or contractual compensation relationship.
The Volunteer understands that any provided items (e.g., t-shirt, refreshments) are tokens of appreciation and not compensation.
2. Scope of Services
The Volunteer agrees to perform assigned duties in support of the Sunnyside Music Festival, including but not limited to:
Morning Set Up: This shift includes helping to set up for the day including setting up tents, placing signs, preparing merchandise, setting up tables and chairs, etc.
Bar Support: Set up tents, chairs and tables, train on iPad and register system, train on drink preparation, sell alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, wipe down tables with disinfectant, keep the drink area clean, open drinks for the bartender to serve to festival goers, stock items that are running out throughout your shift, support flow by checking identification for people in line, at the end of the shift help to break down the bar, bring all alcohol to designated area. Help train incoming shift volunteers.
Float Team: Support as needed throughout the shift and as directed by the Volunteer Coordinator.
Merchandise: Greet festival goers with great customer service skills. Prepare items for sale including keeping merchandise neat and orderly, helping festival goers pick out apparel and other items, keep items stocked and organized, sell items using electronic sales system, etc.
Tear Down: Help support breakdown of the festival including breakdown of tables and chairs, clean items as needed, bring items to designated areas, help support garbage removal and other duties as assigned by the Volunteer Coordinator.
The Volunteer agrees to:
Follow all instructions from the Volunteer Coordinator or designated staff
Act in a safe, respectful, and lawful manner
Comply with all applicable laws, including those related to alcohol service
The Organization reserves the right to modify assignments as needed.
3. Assumption of Risk
The Volunteer understands that participation in event activities may involve inherent risks, including but not limited to:
Lifting and physical activity
Interaction with large crowds
Use of equipment or materials
The Volunteer voluntarily assumes all such risks, whether known or unknown.
4. Release and Waiver of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Colorado law, the Volunteer:
Releases and holds harmless the Organization, its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, sponsors, and partners from any claims, injuries, damages, or losses arising out of or related to their participation, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.
5. Medical Treatment
The Volunteer:
Consents to receive emergency medical treatment if necessary
Understands that the Organization does not provide health or accident insurance coverage for volunteers
6. Workers’ Compensation
The Volunteer understands and agrees that:
They are not eligible for workers’ compensation benefits through the Organization
They are responsible for their own medical coverage unless otherwise provided by separate insurance
7. Indemnification
The Volunteer agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Organization from any claims, damages, or liabilities arising from:
The Volunteer’s negligence or misconduct
Violation of laws or event policies
8. Supervision and Conduct
The Volunteer agrees to:
Report to the Volunteer Coordinator
Follow all safety protocols
Refrain from intoxication or substance use while volunteering
Treat attendees, staff, and fellow volunteers respectfully
The Organization reserves the right to remove any Volunteer at its discretion.
9. Term and Termination
This Agreement is effective only for the duration of the event (including pre-event set up and post-event tear down) on September 12, 2026.
Either party may terminate participation at any time. The Organization may immediately remove a Volunteer for safety, conduct, or operational reasons.
10. Media Release
The Volunteer grants permission to the Organization to use photographs, video, or recordings of their participation for promotional purposes without compensation.
11. Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Colorado.
