Turtle Crawl was created in 2003 as a fundraiser for the Georgia Sea Turtle Center (GSTC) to support its mission of sea turtle research, rehabilitation, and education.

About the application

Volunteers receive a 2026 Turtle Crawl shirt Turtle Crawl is a time-sensitive event and punctuality is very important. Shifts have a firm start time. On race morning Stable Road from the three way at Riverview Drive to Old Plantation Road near Villa Ospo will close to all traffic at 6:45 – 7:30 A.M. to allow the Race Team, Georgia State Patrol and Jekyll Island Fire Dept to prepare & conduct a safe race. Arrive early to get to your volunteer station or use an alternate route around the island. Volunteering could require standing for long periods of time, lifting cases of water, holding water bottles, and transporting self to volunteer stations after checking-in. Read & familiarize yourself with your assigned volunteer map. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that volunteers pick up their shirts prior to the race morning as there will be limited time to check in and get to your volunteer location on Race Day. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR VOLUNTEERS TO ATTEND: 2026 Turtle Crawl Volunteer Training Meeting Date: Wednesday, April 15 Time: 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Location: TBD Training Details • Pick up shirts, shift information, maps & Training Goodie Bag o Training Good Bag Only available for those attending the Evening Training Meeting • View a detailed presentation of the new race routes and location of the event SECOND RECOMMENDED Shirt Pickup - TBD Friday, April 24, 2:00 – 7:00pm Race Day Shirt Pickup- GEORGIA SEA TURTLE CENTER Saturday, April 25 Arrive 30+ minutes before the start of your volunteer shift
