The Chesapeake Rotary Christmas Parade is a beloved community tradition and it takes a dedicated team of volunteers to keep the magic moving! Parade Marshals play a vital role in ensuring the parade runs smoothly, safely, and on schedule for the thousands of spectators who line the route. Meeting requirements: Orientation meeting on December 4 at 6:15 p.m. at the Central Library and Pre-game meeting on parade day, December 6, at 4:30 p.m. at the Great Bridge Shopping Center.
Responsibilities:
Maintain parade flow along the route and help keep spacing between entries consistent.
Provide information and friendly guidance to participants and spectators.
Serve as an extra set of eyes and ears for safety and communication along the route.
Report any emergencies or issues promptly to parade coordinators or law enforcement.
Qualifications:
Friendly, reliable, and able to stand or walk for extended periods.
Comfortable giving directions and working in a busy outdoor environment.
Must be 18 years or older (or accompanied by an adult if volunteering as a student).
Able to attend an orientation (December 4 at the Central Library) and short pre-event volunteer meeting (Parade Day).
Time Commitment:
Approximately 4 hours on parade day (afternoon through early evening).
