About the event

On October 11th, running enthusiasts from the Mid-South and beyond are invited to “Mississippi’s Front Porch” to participate in Hernando’s 16th Annual “Water Tower 10K and Half Marathon" road race which will highlight the city’s historic districts as well as one of its most-beloved local landmarks. For 2025, we have added a Half Marathon distance that will not only provide a tour of the historic districts of Hernando, but also showcase the scenic rural areas surrounding the city. The Half Marathon will start Saturday, October 11th at 8 a.m. with a 5 minute delay to start the 10K race. Both events will start in the heart of the city at Hernando’s Town Square, featuring a course that will wind through the city’s scenic, tree-lined streets in the shadow of the Hernando Water Tower. Built in 1925 and officially designated a Mississippi Landmark. Proceeds from the race benefit Hernando Excel By 5's Dolly Parton Imagination Library (DPIL) with a goal to improve early childhood education by making sure kids have access to age appropriate books. Every child who is enrolled in DPIL between the ages of one month old to five years old, will receive one book a month until their fifth birthday.

Terms & Conditions

Participant Waiver and Release of Liability In consideration of being permitted to participate in this event, I, the participant, intending to be legally bound, hereby waive, release, and discharge any and all rights and claims for damages or injuries that I may have against the Event Organizer, the host city, affiliated partners, sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and any of their agents, representatives, or employees, for any and all injuries to me or my personal property. This release applies to injuries and/or damages that occur before, during, or after the event, regardless of cause. I understand and agree that this release is binding upon my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns. I acknowledge that participating in a running or fitness event is a potentially hazardous activity and that I should not participate unless I am medically able and properly trained. I knowingly and voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation, including but not limited to: falls, collisions with other participants, effects of weather (including extreme heat or cold), traffic, road and surface conditions, and any other hazards that may arise. I accept full and sole responsibility for my own well-being and safety during the event. I agree to follow all instructions and decisions of event officials and volunteers regarding my ability to safely complete the event. I certify that I am physically fit and have sufficiently trained for this activity, and have consulted with a licensed medical professional regarding my ability to participate, if necessary. In the event of illness or injury, I authorize the Event Organizer and its agents to seek emergency medical treatment on my behalf and grant permission to the attending medical personnel to provide such care. I understand that I am fully responsible for all costs associated with any medical services rendered to me, including but not limited to emergency transport, physician services, medication, and hospitalization. Regarding public health concerns, including but not limited to COVID-19, I agree to follow all health and safety protocols set forth by the Event Organizer, local and state authorities, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). I understand these measures are in place to protect all participants and staff and agree to comply with them. I also grant full permission to the Event Organizer to use my name, voice, photograph, and/or likeness in any promotional materials, publications, broadcasts, or other media related to this event for any legitimate purpose, without compensation or additional approval. By submitting my registration, I acknowledge that I have read and fully understand this waiver and release of liability. If I am registering on behalf of a participant under the age of 18, I certify that I am the parent or legal guardian and agree to the terms of this waiver on their behalf.
