About the event

Bemidji Pride is BACK! Join us during the weekend of August 22nd-24th for a packed schedule full of fun for everyone! Celebrating our 5th annual Pride weekend, this year our theme is LIVING OUT LOUD! With the current administration, it is more important than ever to be present as community.

About the application

About the event The Bemidji Pride festival is an annual weekend of Pride events dedicated to celebrating and uplifting the Northwoods 2SLGBTQIA+ Community and its allies! As always, Bemidji Pride’s daytime festival is ADMISSION FREE! About the application Our volunteer shifts for the 2025 Bemidji Pride Festival are available below. We have opportunities available for pre-event set up, post-event clean up, and lots of options for during the festival itself. Take a look and find something that aligns with your experience and interests, or try something new! If you would like to sign up for more than one shift, which would be most appreciated, please ensure they do not have any overlap (unless you are signing up for back-to-back shifts). All volunteers will receive incentives according to the chart below!

Terms & Conditions

Bemidji Pride offers opportunities for outreach to the LGBTQ community for nonprofit organizations and businesses that support our mission. We seek volunteer involvement from participants who support Bemidji Pride’s mission/vision/events, establish a presence in our community, and help to fight against homophobia and transphobia. By completing this application, you agree to the above statements and mission. If at any time during the Pride Festival or its setup/takedown, it is found that you are spreading any sort of hate message, no matter the type, you will be asked to leave the event. Each application will be viewed and accepted based on the following criteria: Commitment: Ability to determine if the volunteer is committed to the equality of all members of the LGBTQ community and if what they are offering is relevant to the community. Ability: While we wholly welcome those of all abilities, some volunteer shifts do require heavy lifting and the ability to move long distances quickly. If you are not able to complete the required tasks, we will choose someone else for that shift, but not to worry! We will find a shift for you. Respect: All volunteers will abide by the Bemidji Pride Code of Conduct, and failure to do so may result in immediate suspension of your volunteer status, revocation of your volunteer incentive(s), and asking for you to leave the property.

Put up safety fence, creating an opening for vehicles to bottom of hillside. Measure & Mark vendor spots with chalk spray paint 10x10 areas according to map.

Hang Sponsor banner at Marina entrance. Hang Pride banner on hillside. Coolers to Pride tent (water-first aid). Hang Pride banner next to stage on posts. Hang sponsor banner with two posts, next to Pride banner. Hang No Entry signs on school and garden fence, add caution tape as needed. Place Garbage and Recycling containers.

Mark out special parking area for Performers with Safety Fence. Mark Handicap spots at end of RRFS building 4 green posts. Set up 2 tables(8ft) - 3 chairs for Night Entry tent at bottom of deck steps. Set up 4 tables(8ft) - 50 chairs under large tent - 1 garbage. Privacy curtains from NE with stands on both sides of the stage. Hang Pride (only) banner onto side of large tent at RRFS. Cover tent stake ropes with noodles.

Heavy lifting. Set up tent for Kids Activities. Set up 57 vendor tables(6ft) with 2 chairs at each (114 chairs). Set up 64 chairs stage seating, and 3 tables(8ft) with 30 chairs. Set up 1 table(6ft) and 2 chairs for stage sound.

Set up Welcome Pride tents (2 rainbow, off to the side) 2 tables(8ft) – 6 chairs. Set up ATM/Water/First aid/Lost Found blue tent with 1 table(6ft) and 2 chairs. Set up Pride merch rainbow tent with 2 tables(6ft) and 2 chairs, label with signage. Set up Raffle Drawing tent-TBD. Tape vendor #'s to tables.

Set up special poster signage: Pride Event, Directional Signing, and other using stakes and sawhorses. Two parking lot attendants with flags directing vendor traffic and parking.

Some moderate/heavy lifting. Assist Vendors locate assigned spots, assist hauling items with wagons from NE. After all vendors are in place, shift into the driveway the Welcome 2 tents w/ tables 2 tables – 6 chairs. Fill 6 coolers with ice, water, beverages and place at: 4 water/safety tent, 1 Kids Activity tent, 1 volunteer tent. Help with additional set up for daytime event.
