Commitment
I understand that by applying to volunteer, I am making a commitment to fulfill the responsibilities of my assigned shift(s) to the best of my ability.
Minimum Shift Requirement
I agree to work a minimum of one (1) four-hour shift during the event weekend. Additional shifts may be requested or offered based on availability and event needs.
Street Team Minimum Commitment Requirement
Because Street Team volunteers work outside of the traditional show schedule, they are not required to complete a standard four-hour shift. Instead, Street Team members must commit to a minimum of 10 hours of promotional work in the weeks leading up to the event. This includes distributing flyers, posters, and other materials to approved local businesses, campuses, and public spaces. Hours can be flexible and completed over multiple days, but must be logged and verified by the volunteer coordinator to qualify for event perks and badge access.
Timeliness & Attendance
I agree to arrive on time for all scheduled shifts. If I am unable to attend a shift due to an emergency, I will notify the volunteer coordinator as soon as possible.
Conduct
I agree to conduct myself professionally and respectfully at all times while representing the Memphis Comic Expo. This includes treating guests, attendees, staff, and fellow volunteers with courtesy and cooperation.
Duties & Placement
I understand that my volunteer role may include (but is not limited to): guest handling, errand running, customer service, door monitoring, parking lot assistance, and event setup/breakdown. I acknowledge that roles will be assigned based on need and availability.
Physical Activity Disclaimer
Some volunteer roles at MCX25 may require extended periods of standing or walking, the ability to sit for prolonged periods, and occasionally the ability to lift or carry up to 25 lbs (e.g., moving boxes, supplies, or signage). If you have any limitations or need accommodations, please let us know in your application—we’ll do our best to assign you to a role that fits your comfort and ability level.
Uniform
I agree to wear the provided MCX25 volunteer t-shirt during my shift(s) for visibility and identification.
Badge Policy
In exchange for fulfilling my volunteer duties, I will receive a free weekend attendee badge. I understand this badge is non-transferable and may be revoked if I do not fulfill my volunteer obligations or violate the conduct policy.
Age Requirement
I confirm that I am 18 years of age or older, or that I have submitted a signed permission form if under 18 (if applicable).
Liability Waiver
I understand that while reasonable safety precautions will be taken, I volunteer at my own risk and agree to release Memphis Comic Expo and its partners, staff, and affiliates from any liability related to injury or loss incurred while volunteering.
Media Release
I give permission for photos or video taken of me during the event to be used for promotional purposes by Memphis Comic Expo.
