About the application

Do you want a front row seat to watch the parade? A parade can't take place without the support of amazing volunteers! We need dedicated people who will position themselves at a designated intersection along the parade route, ensuring no vehicles enter between 4:45p and when the parade passes their intersection (may be 20 minutes or up to one hour). Calgary City Police will be at alternating intersections with volunteers to enure the best possible experience for all!

1.       Marshal’s must be wearing a High Visual safety vest (provided), have a flashlight and cell phone with them.

2.       The Marshal’s primary role is to inform spectators that the safe viewing area is from the outside circle side of the parade route, on the sidewalk.  No one should be standing on the medians or road.

3.       Make sure individuals are only crossing the road using the designated crosswalks.  All road crossing must be done prior to the Parade and not once the Parade is in sight.

4.       All floats and parade participants will be advised that they are only to hand out items to those on the sidewalk and no throwing product, of any kind, into the crowd. Please let ERP Chief Delegate know if there are any issues and it will be addressed.

5.       Should there be a medical emergency along the parade route, floats will be halted and held in place until the emergency personnel give the all clear to move on.  Please ensure spectators stay in their spots. Under no circumstance are floats permitted to leave the Parade at this time.  Please remain where you are until the emergency is cleared and please stay out of all emergency personnel’s working area.  All emergency vehicles would be advised how to maneuver the community with the limited access due to the parade.

6.       If a driver or spectator becomes aggressive / verbally / physically abusive, please note vehicle make and license plate (photos) and notify ERP Chief delegate.
