Terms & Conditions

Types of Vendors

The Kalamazoo Farmer’s Market requires every applicant and Market business to self-identify their role in our Markets as Grower, Producer, Retailer, or Artisan. All of these roles are significant to our Market and our region’s thriving food system. Definitions for these roles, as they relate to our Market, are as follows:

  • Grower: 80% or more of market income is the result of sales of products grown by their business.
  • Producer: 80% or more of market income is the result of sales of prepared food or drink, value-added products, food items prepared in compliance with Michigan’s Cottage Food Law, or processed goods resulting from animals raised by their business.
  • Retailer: 20% or more of market income is the result of sales of edible products grown or produced by another business.
  • Artisan: Vendor that sells handcrafted, non-edible products that are made in Michigan or within 100 miles and designed by the Vendor and/or their employees.

Vendors can apply to be either a Seasonal Vendor or a Daily Vendor

  • Seasonal Vendors are present every Saturday of the winter market. Seasonal vendors have the same booth assignment for the entire season. Preference is given to seasonal vendor applications; within those, preference is given to those who have been seasonal vendors in past years.
  • Daily Vendors sign up for individual winter market dates. Daily vendors may be confirmed for dates up until the Wednesday prior to the market day, as these spots typically open up when a seasonal vendor cannot attend.
