About the application

Thank you for applying for the Baltimore Black Dance Collective Summer Intensive Scholarship. This $500 scholarship supports young dancers ages 9-18 who have been accepted to and registered for a summer dance intensive in Summer 2026 (June - August). 

 

Preference is given to applicants demonstrating financial need, but all eligible dancers are encouraged to apply.

Terms & Conditions

By submitting an application for the Baltimore Black Dance Collective (BBDC) Summer Intensive Scholarship, applicants and their parent/guardian (if under 18) agree to the following terms and conditions:

 

  1. Eligibility
    - Applicants must be between the ages of 9 and 18 at the time of application.
    - Applicants must reside in the Greater Baltimore area. Preference may be given to residents of Baltimore City and Baltimore County.
    - Applicants must have been accepted into a summer dance intensive program and provide documentation of acceptance and registration.
    - Applicants must submit all required application materials by the published deadline.
  2. Application Materials
    - All information provided must be truthful, accurate, and complete.
    Incomplete applications or applications submitted after the deadline may not be considered.
    - BBDC reserves the right to verify information provided in the application, including residency, financial need, program acceptance, and recommendation letters.
  3. Scholarship Award
    The scholarship award amount is $500.
    - Scholarship funds are intended to cover the costs associated with participation in a summer dance intensive, including, but not limited to, tuition, registration fees, travel, housing, dancewear, footwear, and other training-related expenses.
    - The scholarship award is not guaranteed and will be awarded at the sole discretion of the Baltimore Black Dance Collective review panel.
    - BBDC reserves the right not to award the scholarship if no applicant sufficiently meets the scholarship criteria.
  4. Selection Process
    - Scholarship recipients will be selected through a competitive review process based on application materials, artistic potential, commitment to dance, personal statement responses, and demonstrated need and/or merit.
    - Decisions made by the scholarship review panel are final and not subject to appeal.
  5. Use of Name, Image, and Story
    - By accepting the scholarship, recipients grant BBDC permission to use their name, photograph, dance images, submitted materials, and scholarship-related story for promotional, educational, fundraising, and marketing purposes, including but not limited to social media, websites, newsletters, annual reports, and press releases.
    - Personal financial documents and sensitive information will remain confidential and will not be shared publicly.
  6. Payment and Distribution
    - Scholarship funds may be paid directly to the recipient, parent/guardian, or summer intensive program at the discretion of BBDC.
    - Recipients may be required to provide proof of enrollment, registration, or attendance before funds are distributed.
    - If a recipient withdraws from, is dismissed from, or does not attend the summer intensive program, BBDC reserves the right to rescind the award or request the return of scholarship funds.
  7. Privacy
    - Application materials will be reviewed only by authorized representatives of BBDC and designated scholarship reviewers.
    - BBDC will make reasonable efforts to protect applicant information, but cannot guarantee absolute security of electronically submitted materials.
  8. General Conditions
    - Submission of an application does not guarantee receipt of a scholarship award.
    - BBDC reserves the right to modify scholarship guidelines, deadlines, eligibility requirements, or award procedures as necessary.
