About the registration
Take part in the annual Christmas on Green Street Parade on Sunday, December 6, 2026. Applications Close November 1, 2026.
For 2026, we have tightened up requirements for floats and parade entries to ensure they are all festive and safe.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS, RULES, AND PAYMENT OPTIONS
Pricing:
Pricing for regular registration:
- $150: Corporate Float Entry Fee
- $120: Small Business Float Entry Fee
- $60: Non-Profit Float
- $30: Antique Car Entry Fee (Vehicle Model must be 2000 or earlier to qualify.)
- **High School Marching Bands are Free**
Application Submissions:
- Each VEHICLE, FLOAT, MARCHING BAND, or DANCE GROUP ENTRY must complete a separate application.
- A maximum of 25 people can walk alongside registered vehicles and floats, but walking groups without vehicles will not be allowed this year unless they are a form of entertainment, such as marching bands or dance groups that will be performing in the parade.
- A packet of information and required vehicle/ float tags must be picked up by applicants prior to the event at the visitor's office, located at 300 Henry Ward Way, Suite 100, Gainesville, GA 30501. All other parade communication to entries will happen via eventeny leading up to the event.
- Details on this application may be used as script information and may be submitted to the media. Please provide complete and accurate information to help Main Street Gainesville promote your group.
- No refunds will be made for cancellations. You will only be charged after your application has been reviewed and approved. Acceptance packets will not be available for pickup until payment has been submitted.
Contest Categories and Judging:
- Best Parade Float: (1st Prize: $300 Gift Card, 2nd Prize: $200 Gift Card)
- Creative display based on your company or organization's business, Artistic design that stretches architectural bounds for floats.
- Best Festive Antique Car: (1st Prize: $150 gift card, 2nd Prize: $100 gift card)
Judging for Antique Cars and Floats will take place between 3:00pm - 4pm, in order of arrival to the parade line up on Thompson Bridge Road. Ribbons will be given out at the start of the parade, so the awards will be on the floats as they parade down Green Street.
All winners will be highlighted on the Downtown Gainesville Facebook page in the days following the parade.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- All entries MUST be Christmas / holiday-themed! You will be asked NOT to line up if your vehicle is not decorated.
- Candy is NOT allowed to be thrown OR passed out for safety reasons.
- Paper / Handouts are NOT allowed of any kind.
- Anyone dressed as Santa is not allowed, since Santa is the grand finale of the parade on the Fire Truck.
- Alcohol and smoking is prohibited by all participants in the parade.
Floats: This category is stricter this year.
- Only trailers allowed pulled by pickup or truck or Duely. No semi trucks.
- No vehicles that are not pulling a float / trailer or associated with a marching band. This is a safety regulation. Max truck length: 26 feet. Max Trailer Length: 32 feet. Max vehicle width: 8ft.
- People CAN walk beside your float, but only up to 25 additional people this year, for safety reasons. These people should be at least 8 years old and capable of walking two miles at a brisk pace. Anyone under 8 years old, or unable to walk two miles, can participate by riding on a float or in a vehicle.
- Any float deemed inappropriate or unsafe by the judging panel or City of Gainesville will be pulled from the parade.
- Floats must be holiday themed in decoration, theme, and dress.
- Participants riding in the vehicles or floats must provide their own vehicles and drivers. Insurance and liability are the responsibility of the participant.
- Each vehicle or float must register separately, even if part of the same organization, as we need to ensure we have space available for all contestants who apply to participate. You can add up to three vehicles under one application, or you can register separate forms and with the same organization name; that is up to you. Please note that a truck/trailer combo counts as one vehicle.
- You are required to pick up registration packets that contain window clings that MUST BE PLACED on each vehicle to check in at the parade.
Candy / Paper Collateral:
- Candy may NOT be thrown OR passed out from parade participants. This is a safety hazzard for people running into the road under large trucks.
- No distribution of paper collateral shall take place any time during the event, including the parade precession. Any business/group found distributing such materials will be found in violation of the city of Gainesville's Code of Ordinances. This includes coupons, advertisements, and flyers.
Animals:
- Any animal deemed unsafe in the parade will be removed.
- All animal units must provide their own “clean-up” crew to follow their unit in the parade.
- Equestrian entries MUST have a manure bag attached to their animals.
- Animal Trailer parking needs MUST be communicated to Parade Officials AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION. A location separate from the staging area can be provided.

- I understand and agree that no candy, paper materials, or other items may be distributed or thrown during the parade. I acknowledge that failure to follow this rule may result in removal from the event and disqualification from participation in future parades.

I agree to hold harmless Main Street Gainesville or the City of Gainesville thereof, from any claim including but not limited to injury to person, damage to property, loss of fire, theft or any other cause, nor will I/we be party to any lawsuit.
