About the application

An Arts & Crafts vendor is an individual or small business that creates and sells handmade or handcrafted items — typically at markets, fairs, festivals, craft shows, or through online platforms.

Applications will be reviewed for approval using the following guidelines:

  • Handmade Products — Items must be primarily created, assembled, or significantly altered by hand, not mass-produced.
  • Food items may qualify only if they are individually wrapped and labeled in full compliance with Virginia and local packaging and food safety regulations.
  • Original Design — Products must reflect the maker's own artistic vision, style, or technique — not reproductions of another artist's work or commercially licensed designs.
  • Artisanal Quality — Work must demonstrate skill, care, and attention to detail consistent with craft tradition.
  • Small-Scale Production — Items must be produced by the applying individual or a small team, not through an industrial or commercial manufacturing process.

Qualifying work includes, but is not limited to:

  • paintings
  • pottery
  • glasswork
  • woodcarving
  • fiber arts and weavings
  • jewelry
  • ceramics and sculpture

Items crafted from manufactured components or upcycled from pre-existing materials are eligible, provided the maker has substantially transformed or creatively applied those materials.

Applications noting items purchased wholesale, mass-produced off-site, or produced primarily by others may not be approved. Contact the Chamber for more information. 540-347-4414
