Smackdown & Sketches is a two-day nonprofit event that combines the excitement of professional wrestling with the creativity of comic books to promote literacy through comics. The event raises support for Panels of Hope, helping fund programs that encourage reading and storytelling through the world of comics. Day one features an action-packed professional wrestling show, bringing the community together for an entertaining night of high-energy sports entertainment. Day two transforms the venue into a comic convention, featuring comic artists, writers, vendors, and activities designed to inspire creativity and reading. Proceeds from Smackdown & Sketches help expand literacy initiatives that use comics as a powerful gateway to reading—especially for young readers who may struggle with traditional books. Through engaging artwork, storytelling, and community involvement, the event demonstrates how comics can spark imagination, build confidence, and foster a lifelong love of reading. By blending pop culture, creativity, and community, Smackdown & Sketches creates a fun and meaningful experience that supports literacy and helps make reading accessible to everyone.
