About the application
Join us in the heart of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, for the 2026 Deaconess Illinois Crossroads Parade — a highlight of Mt. Vernon Fall Fest! This year’s theme, “Stars, Stripes, & Autumn Nights,” proudly celebrates America 250, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. As our nation reflects on 250 years of history, freedom, and community, we invite regional organizations, schools, businesses, churches, and families to creatively showcase what patriotism, hometown pride, and togetherness mean to them.
Held in beautiful downtown Mt. Vernon, the Deaconess Illinois Crossroads Parade is a fun, family-friendly tradition that brings thousands of residents and visitors together each year. From red, white, and blue displays to autumn-inspired floats and performances, the parade is an opportunity to celebrate our nation’s heritage, honor the spirit of small-town America, and highlight the connections that make our community strong.
Whether you choose to reflect on American history, local traditions, community service, or the simple joys of fall festivities, we encourage participants to help make this year’s parade a memorable tribute to both our country’s milestone anniversary and the welcoming spirit of Southern Illinois.
About the event
Terms & Conditions
All parade entries must be decorated and are encouraged to incorporate this year’s theme: “Stars, Stripes, & Autumn Nights” in celebration of America 250 and the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Each entry is limited to a maximum of two vehicles.
Entry Fees
- FREE for sponsors, individuals, schools, churches, civic organizations, and not-for-profit groups
- $25 for business and political entries
Parade Line-Up & Judging
- Parade line-up begins at 11:00 a.m.
Judging will begin promptly at 12:00 p.m.
Line-up will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, with the exception of emergency vehicles, the Parade Grand Marshal, and Major Sponsors. - Participants should line up on 7th Street at Jordan Street facing north.
- Each entry is limited to TWO vehicles.
- Parade officials reserve the right to refuse undecorated entries or entries deemed inconsistent with the family-friendly nature of the event.
