Artisan and Craft Vendors

Downtown Smithfield invites local and regional artisans and craft vendors to be part of Independence Day: America’s 250th Celebration, a signature community event drawing thousands of residents and visitors to the heart of downtown.

This patriotic celebration kicks off at 4:00 PM and concludes with a spectacular fireworks display at 9:00 PM. With attendance exceeding 5,000 people last year, this year’s milestone celebration of America’s 250th birthday promises even greater visibility and excitement.

Vendor Details:
Standard booth size: 10’ x 10’
Booth spaces are ideal for handcrafted goods, artisan products, fine art, and unique retail items.
Vendors must arrive and be fully set up prior to the start of the event.
We are seeking a curated mix of artisans offering handmade, original, and high-quality products that enhance the festive atmosphere and shopping experience for attendees. To help bring the celebration to life, artisans are encouraged to:

Decorate booths in red, white, and blue
Highlight patriotic, Americana-inspired, or celebratory items when possible
Payment will be collected upon approval of your application.
Booth assignments and vendor load-in instructions will be emailed to approved vendors one week prior to the event.

This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase your work at one of Downtown Smithfield’s largest and most beloved events while celebrating a historic moment in our nation’s story. We look forward to celebrating with you!

Booth Space
Standard artisan and craft vendor booths are 10’ x 10’.
Vendors must operate entirely within their assigned space and may not encroach on neighboring booths, sidewalks, or fire lanes.
Booth assignments are determined by event organizers and are final.
Approved Merchandise
Artisan and craft vendors must offer handcrafted, original, or curated retail items that align with the event’s family-friendly atmosphere.
The sale of flea market–type items, mass-produced novelty items, or unapproved merchandise is not permitted.
Prohibited Items & Sales
The following are strictly prohibited:

Sale or distribution of alcohol (unless explicitly approved in writing by DSDC)
Offensive, inappropriate, or unsafe merchandise or displays
Items that create excessive noise, odor, or disruption (e.g., stink spray, dye packs, similar substances)
The Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation (DSDC) reserves the right to remove any vendor found in violation of these rules, without refund.

Event Hours & Teardown
Vendors are encouraged to remain open through the end of the fireworks show.
Vendors may not begin teardown before 8:30 PM.
Early teardown without approval may affect eligibility for future events.
Electrical Use
Electricity is not guaranteed and must be requested on the vendor application if available.
Vendors must provide their own extension cords, power strips, and connectors rated for outdoor use.
Vendors may not alter or tamper with any electrical outlets, panels, or wiring.
Tampering with electrical systems may result in fines and removal from the event.
Sales Tax Requirements
Vendors must display a valid Certificate of Registration from the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Vendors are responsible for collecting and remitting all applicable sales tax.

General Conduct & Compliance
Vendors must comply with all event rules, local ordinances, and instructions from event staff, public safety officials, and volunteers.
Offensive language, unsafe behavior, or disruptive conduct will not be tolerated.
Participation is at the vendor’s own risk, and DSDC is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged property.
