About the application

The Pig on the Pond Junior Grillmaster Competition, presented by Publix, is a hands-on culinary experience designed for middle and high school students who are ready to step up to the grill and show what they can do.

Participants will grill steaks in a fun, supportive competition setting that emphasizes skill development, confidence, and sportsmanship. Junior Grillmasters will be evaluated on grilling technique, doneness, presentation, and overall execution, giving students real-world exposure to culinary fundamentals and competitive cooking.

This competition is about more than grilling—it’s about learning responsibility, building confidence, and celebrating young talent. Students will gain experience working under time guidelines, interacting with judges, and participating in one of South Lake County’s most well-loved community festivals.

Whether participants are aspiring chefs or simply enjoy cooking outdoors, the Junior Grillmaster Competition offers a memorable opportunity to learn, grow, and shine at Pig on the Pond.
