Our World: The Wonder and The Worry

The online portion of the show will be created and managed by the Artists' Network on the LeslieGroveGalleryStore.ca Art can depict both the beauty of our natural environments and the concern for what we are witnessing across the planet. We have all seen the reverence for the land portrayed by artists such as Lauren Harris and Emily Carr. Alternatively, the works of Tiffany Shaw-Collinge and Edward Burtynsky have shown how art can bring attention to the plight caused by human development. This show will be a dynamic mix of artwork that balances the love and respect we hold for our natural world while drawing attention to the devastating changes affecting us due to climate change. In doing so, we can, as artists, add our voices to the call for action now! We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children. Ralph Waldo Emerson Artists’ Networks asks all members and nonmember artists to please send us your strongest original 2D or 3D work with an artist statement that deeply considers your relationship to this theme. Priority will be given to work that specifically answers this call.
