Candy Cane Main Shop Main Street Business Signup

Candy Cane Main - Shop Main Street Kickoff is a district-long shopping event held on Saturday, December 6th, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. before the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce Parade of Lights. This year’s Candy Cane Main theme will be a SWEATER STROLL, and we are bringing back the COOKIE AND COCOA Crawl for registered shoppers. 

All proceeds from this shopping kickoff event will go directly towards our fundraising efforts for the Façade Improvement Grant Program. What is better during the giving season than shopping locally and giving back to the community at the same time? 

There will be an interactive walking map of participating Candy Cane Main businesses in the district and their hosted pop-up businesses for the day and throughout the shopping season. We will also be featuring Selfies with Santa, a BAAAAA Humbug Sheep Scavenger Hunt, and a Light up Main Street Holiday Window Display contest.

Businesses registering for the Candy Cane Main shopping kickoff are requested to provide hot cocoa and/or cookies for the shopping crawl. We encourage our in-district businesses to partner with and host out-of-district registered, participating businesses to create the ultimate shopping experience for our community. 

Candy Cane Main Shop Main Street Sweater Stroll district shopping event Saturday, December 6th, from 11-2 pm. Shoppers can preregister and receive a commemorative tote, cups, and cookie boxes to stow their treats.

• Participating businesses are to provide cookies and/or cocoa to registered shoppers of the crawl.
• $25 business registration fee for current 2025 MSG Business Partners & $50 for non-MSG 2025 Business Partners. Registered Businesses will receive additional promotion to Shop Main Street and stay local, in addition to what you already receive as a Main Street sponsor, PLUS: 
  • Participation in the Candy Cane Main - Shop Main Street - shopping event on December 6th. 
  • Coupons or ads for the day of the shopping event are placed in the Commemorative totes. (coupons or ads must be submitted by November 28th to ensure placement in totes)
  • Inclusion in our Candy Cane Main Interactive Map. Printed and downloadable PDFs will be available. 
  • Your selected product will be featured in the Perfect Gift Guide. (Must be submitted by the business)
  • Facebook and Instagram pages and promo mention throughout the shopping season. 
  • Logo files as needed for MSG Candy Cane Main Shop Main Street.
  • Giant Holiday lollipop display with QR code link to the Candy Cane Main map, indicating you are a participating business. (Available to brick-and-mortar businesses only.)

Additional Day of Events:

• Selfies with Santa Saturday, December 6th, 11-2 PM – Santa?!?! We know him!  Santa will be downtown and photo-ready, visiting everyone on the nice and not-so-nice list.  Find Santa and Snap a Selfie.
• BAAAA Humbug Sheep Scavenger Hunt Participants can follow the flock to find the special festive sheep we will sprinkle throughout the business on Main Street. If you would like to host a festive holiday sheep, let us know at registration. 
• Light Up Main Street Holiday Light Contest. We encourage businesses on Main to deck the halls and get lit in time for the holidays. Participants of the Sweater Stroll can enter their favorite business holiday window or exterior display. The business with the most votes receives a Title Sponsorship level of Main Street Gardnerville for 2026
• Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Parade of Lights is on Saturday, December 6th, at 5:00 pm on 395. This year’s theme is “Holiday Hoedown”. Please plan accordingly, as roads typically close at dusk. Parade Route is from Eddy Street to Minden Park. This is an excellent opportunity to capture additional foot traffic to your business if you choose to extend your hours.
