Join us for a beloved Fort Mill tradition as we celebrate our 11th Annual Scarecrow Crawl! From October 3–31, stroll through Downtown Fort Mill and enjoy an incredible display of Scarecrows created by local individuals, families, schools, businesses, churches, and organizations.

Scarecrow entry is FREE, but space is limited!

• Registration: August 1 – September 5

• Installation: September 26 – October 2

• Please do not complete a registration unless you are certain you can fulfill your commitment during the time period specified below.

• Submitting a registration does not guarantee your space. You will be notified by Friday, Sept. 12, if you are an approved entry. We receive many registrations and our numbers are limited.

Scarecrow Crawl: October 3 - 31
Scarecrow Voting by Judges: Week of October 6
Scarecrow Voting on Facebook by Public: October 8-27
Scarecrow Winners Announced: October 28 on Town of Fort Mill Social Media
Scarecrow Removal: November 1-2
(Scarecrows not removed during these dates will be disposed by the Town)

🎃 2025 IMPORTANT CHANGES TO NOTE – FORT MILL SCARECROW CRAWL 🎃

Due to ongoing construction at Walter Elisha Park, the number of participants in this year’s Scarecrow Crawl will be limited. This decision was made with safety as our top priority.

As a result, only businesses, churches and organizations located within the incorporated municipal limits of the Town of Fort Mill will be eligible to participate.

Please see the updated eligibility requirements below. We appreciate your understanding and continued support!

✅ Businesses, Churches & Organizations

Must be physically located within the Town’s municipal limits to be eligible—regardless of where employees, members or volunteers reside. Organizations without a physical location may still participate if their regular meetings are held within the Town’s municipal limits.

✅ Pre-Schools & Daycares

These are considered businesses and must also meet the location requirement stated above.

✅ Fort Mill School District (FMSD) Schools

All FMSD schools are invited to participate—regardless of whether they are located within the Town limits.

SCARECROW DETAILS & RULES

1. This is a family-friendly event.

2. Scarecrows must NOT be frightening or distasteful.

3. Political statements or endorsements are NOT allowed.

4. Each location will be equipped with a post for your scarecrow.

5. Scarecrows must be secured by zip ties, twine or string. NO metal or wire is allowed on the poles.

6. Scarecrow size requirements: minimum 4 ft. tall, maximum 7 ft. tall (or within reason for your location)

7. Materials must be firmly attached to the scarecrow to withstand ALL weather elements.

8. Scarecrows require upkeep. Inspect your entry regularly during the month to ensure it remains in presentable
condition throughout the Scarecrow Crawl. We will contact you if yours has not been kept in good condition.

9. Every Scarecrow must have a sign, no larger than 20 x 20 inches. The sign must include:

• "Scarecrow Name"
• "Created by" (business, organization name, etc)
• "Scarecrow #” that you are assigned.

10. Scarecrows must not obstruct or impede any sidewalk, street or right-of-way.

11. Display Locations:
Entries will be assigned spaces along Tom Hall, Main, N. & S. White, Clebourne St., Millstone & Walter Elisha Park.

12. Assigned locations will be emailed to the CONTACT EMAIL on this form by: Friday, September 19, 2025.

13. Town Staff will determine final selection of registrations. You will be notified if you are an approved or waitlisted entry by Friday, September 12.
