THE STEPS - TALENT APPLICATION

Welcome to The Steps: Talent Application! 

This is the place for you to submit your application and join us for our inaugural The Steps: Grassroots Concert Series on the historic steps of the Heckscher Museum!

This program is in partnership with Huntington Arts Council and Heckscher Museum. Performers are supported by Huntington Arts Council's Long Island Grants for the Arts Program with the support of the Office of the Governor and the NYS Legislature.

Event Information

EVENT TIME: 5-7PM

Performers will provide live entertainment for Heckscher Museums exciting new programs "Food Truck Fridays" and "In the Mix"  and conclude prior to performances of the Huntington Summer Arts Festival. Specific set times will be communicated upon selection.

LOCATION: The Steps of the Heckscher Museum at Heckscher Park - 2 Prime Ave, Huntington, NY 11743

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Sunday June 29th, 2025

Who Can Apply?

This application is exclusively open to local Long Island musicians and musical acts across various genres. We are especially interested in acoustic, folk, jazz, indie, and other genres suitable for an intimate, outdoor setting.

Due to the guidelines of the grant funding this program, musicians applying must reside in either Suffolk or Nassau County. Applications from outside these counties will not be considered at this time.

Stipend Information

We believe in compensating artists for their talent.

For "The Steps: Grassroots Concert Series" performances, selected artists will receive a stipend ranging from $300 to $500 per performance date.

Please note: By submitting this application, you agree that you are willing to be compensated within this stated stipend range, as determined by the final booking and production needs.

How It Works:

• Browse and Select: Review the available dates for "The Steps" series and submit your application for the dates you are interested in.
• Review Details: Carefully review the application questions and ensure you meet the general requirements for the series.
• Notification and Onboarding: We will notify you if you are selected for a performance opportunity. If chosen, we will follow proper procedures to onboard you and provide all necessary information regarding your set time, technical details, and compensation.

The Steps: Talent Portal - Terms and Conditions

By submitting an application to The Steps Talent Portal, you ("Artist," "Applicant," or "You") agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Colored Colors and Lost Island Arts ("We," "Us," or "Our"), which organizes The Steps: Grassroots Concert Series, reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Any changes will be posted on the Talent Portal, and it is your responsibility to review them periodically.

1. Application Process

• Applications are free of charge.

• You warrant that all information provided in your application is accurate and complete.

• We reserve the right to reject any application for any reason.

• Submission of an application does not guarantee selection for any event.

2. Selection and Engagement

• Selection of Artists for The Steps: Grassroots Concert Series is at the sole discretion of Colored Colors and Lost Island Arts' curatorial team.

• If selected, you will be notified and provided with a detailed scope of work and compensation details.

• Engagement is contingent upon your acceptance of the provided terms.

• Colored Colors and Lost Island Arts reserves the right to cancel or reschedule events.

• If selected, you agree to fulfill the obligations outlined in the event contract.

3. Compensation

• Selected Artists will be compensated as agreed upon in the event contract.

• Payment terms will be specified in the event contract.

• Lost Island Arts is responsible for payment to the artist, according to the contract, with support from the Long Island Grants for the Arts Program.

4. Intellectual Property

• You retain ownership of your intellectual property.

• By submitting an application, you grant Colored Colors and Lost Island Arts a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use your submitted materials (images, videos, bios) for promotional purposes related to The Steps: Grassroots Concert Series and the Huntington Summer Arts Festival.

• You grant Colored Colors and Lost Island Arts the right to record and photograph your performance for promotional and archival purposes.

5. Liability

• You are responsible for your own safety and equipment during events.

• Colored Colors and Lost Island Arts shall not be liable for any loss, damage, or injury arising from your participation in events, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.

• You are responsible for having your own liability insurance if you deem it necessary.

6. Termination

• Colored Colors and Lost Island Arts may terminate your participation in The Steps Talent Portal or any event for breach of these Terms and Conditions or for any other reason deemed appropriate.

• You may terminate your participation by providing written notice to Colored Colors and Lost Island Arts.

7. Confidentiality

• You agree to keep confidential any information provided by Colored Colors and Lost Island Arts that is marked as confidential.

8. Data Privacy

• Colored Colors and Lost Island Arts will collect and use your personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy.

• By submitting an application, you consent to the collection and use of your personal information as described in the Privacy Policy.

• We may share your information with partner organizations with your consent.

9. Governing Law

• These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New York State.
