The Friends of the William Edmondson Homesite is seeking performing artists for the annual William Edmondson Arts & Culture Festival! This festival will honor and celebrate the legacy of Edgehill’s famous historical artist William Edmondson by promoting and nurturing the arts in Nashville. A large section of the festival will be set up just for artists to sell their creations and bring awareness to their work. We’ll have a Main Stage with time slots available for vocalists, instrumentalists, dancers, poets/spoken word artists, and other performing artists throughout the day. You’re invited!
Benefits - Showcase your talents to a citywide audience
- Network and build relationships with other artists and performers
- Be mentioned in press releases, promo material and social media platforms
- Priority invitation to Future Events
Requirements for Performing Artists - Vocal and instrumental music of all genres, dance, spoken word/poetry, etc.
- Interactive performances are welcome and encouraged
- Performance must fit within a 25-30 minute timeframe. Shorter slots are also available.
- Artists must be able to report to the main stage area 30 minutes before scheduled performance time to set up props, instruments, etc.
- Selected pieces should be appropriate for all ages and not contain profane or lewd content. There are no genre limitations.
- There is no charge to perform; however, slots are limited so performing artists will be selected from among applicants.
Note: This is currently an unpaid opportunity, but we have applied for a Grant that would allow us to pay stipends to all our performing artists. We have a high degree of confidence, based on conversations with the Granting authority, that the grant will come through. However, it won’t be official until mid-October. Our first priority for use of Grant proceeds is paying artist stipends. Provided (Note: all specs are preliminary)
- We will have small stage (tentatively 12 x 16 feet, tented) with a small PA system, with at least two microphones, monitor wedges, plus an audio engineer for a simple front of house mix
- A large flat area in front of the stage will be available, if suitable for your performance
- We will have a small “backline” including at least 2 DI’s, and possibly a drum kit and bass amp (we are still working this out…let us know what you need and we will try to accommodate)
- The audience seating area is informal (picnic-style)
- There will be no stage lighting, as it is an intimate, informal daytime setting
