Description
Join us for a 5-hour, docent-led historical and architectural motor coach tour of a dozen Chicago Southland communities to compliment the 100th anniversary of the Historic Ford Hangar, narrated by Ted Golat of Seecago Tours. Ages 12 and up. While riding along in motor coach comfort, you will see: Illinois’ First African/American cemetery the oldest operating brewery in Illinois first Illinois High School on the National Historic Register, an art-deco masterpiece, the early 20th century “Piano Capital of the World,” the first “Crossroads of the Nation”, the oldest continually operational church in Northeastern Illinois, “America’s First Complete-Planned Suburb”, one of America’s largest outdoor sculpture parks, the “World’s Largest Pizza Parlor”, the “World’s Largest Limestone Quarry”. You will hear the stories of the local communities, early Indian tribes, the ice age glaciers, early settlers, the underground railroad, famous people, and famous roads and trails, and much more. Architectural styles will include: Art Deco; Italianate, Colonial, Queen Anne, Victorian, Prairie-style, Urban planning, and an early factory-town. Stops for photos, restrooms, and food. Complimentary bottled water available. On Saturday, September 19th, the motorcoach departs promptly at 8:00 am and returns to the Historic Ford Hangar in Lansing Illinois at approximately 1:00 pm, in time for you to view the Air Show.
