August 1 • 9:00 -11:00 AM Join Michelle Jarvie, professor in the Cannabis Chemistry Department at Lake Superior State University, for an informative introduction to home growing cannabis. This beginner-friendly class covers the basics of getting started, including plant selection, growing environments, lighting, and care. Michelle will also touch on safety, legal considerations, and best practices for responsible cultivation. Whether you’re curious or ready to begin, this session offers a clear, science-based foundation in a welcoming, educational setting.

Monday, August 3 • 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Using triangles of glass, create a one-of-a-kind plant stake to use in your garden or a potted plant. Glass will be fired in a kiln and will be ready for pick up by the weekend. Arrangements for delivery or pick up will need to be made at the class. Instructor: Susan Hallums Location: Home studio in Cedarville. Directions will be given to the attendees prior to the class.

Tuesday, August 4 • 10 AM – 12 PM Hessel School House is offering a unique learning opportunity! Using various art media and techniques, learn how to capture one of Michigan’s Marvels on paper or canvas. Artist Karen Mazzoline will provide materials and instruction on how to observe, draw, or paint iconic Michigan scenery! Each session will focus on a certain area of Michigan with some history behind each marvel. No experience is necessary and all materials will be provided. This session will focus on THE ARCH ROCK on historic Mackinac Island!

Thursday, August 6 • 10 AM – 12 PM (Adults / Teens) Want to have a morning of creative fun? Join artist Karen Mazzoline as she guides you through the basics of mixed media! Learn how to choose different mediums, subject matter, and application techniques on canvas or paper! No experience is necessary and all materials and fun will be provided!

Thursday, August 6 • 1 – 4 pm (Adults /Teens) Our wire wrapping class this past winter was a such a hit, we decided to offer it again! Artist Marissa Wissner will guide you on how to make basic shapes and use wrapping techniques with various materials and tools. Project ideas include wire trees, bookmarks, and hair pieces! Come enjoy an afternoon of wrapping and creating together!

Thursday, August 13 • 10 AM – 12 PM (ages 6-12) Come explore the art possibilities at Hessel School House! Using the chosen storybook trail as our theme, artist Karen Mazzoline will offer art techniques to create a unique work of art that reflects the story! Class begins with a walk through the nature trail, learning about the story and taking in the beauty of the trail. Art making will take place in the schoolhouse using different media and materials! Come and enjoy a fun morning of creating together!

Thursday, August 13 • 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM Using bits and pieces in your choice of colors, create a picture that will add a contemporary splash of color to your home. Item will be left to be tack fused and can be picked up by the weekend. The cost includes a metal stand to display your art. Thursday, August 13 • 1 – 3 pm (Adults) Can’t wait for fall? Let us help with a fall themed shelf sitter class! Using 5 x 5 wood squares, paint pumpkins, leaves, and other fun fall images! Artist Karen Mazzoline will guide you through the process of choosing your theme, paint colors, and cutouts to make your very own fall décor! When you’re done, you will be taking home two shelf sitters! No experience necessary and all materials will be provided!

Thursday, August 13 • 5 – 7 pm (Adults Only) Come join artist Karen Mazzoline as we say farewell to summer with a beautiful sunset painting! Using acrylic, learn how to layer and blend colors to bring your sunset to life! All materials and instruction will be provided! Bring your beverage of choice and a friend as you enjoy an evening together!

Monday, August 17 • 1:00 to 3:00 PM (Adults) Using glass in your choice of colors, create a one-of-a-kind wine cork, knife, and small cheese board (5X10) Glass items will be left at the end of class to be full fused and may be picked up by the weekend.

Tuesday, August 18 • 10 AM – noon ( Adults ) Hessel School House is offering a unique learning opportunity! Artist Marissa Wissner will offer instruction on how to add artistic flair to magnetic frames and pencil cases! Learn how to make school themed key chains for your lunch bags and backpacks! All materials will be provided!

Tuesday, August 25 • 10 AM – 12 PM (Adults) Come and enjoy a morning of acrylic paint pouring! Artist Karen Mazzoline will teach the art of paint pouring using different pouring techniques. Learn how to choose colors and materials as you create a one-of-a-kind painting! No experience is necessary and all materials will be provided!

Tuesday, August 25 •  1 – 3 pm Usher in the fall season with your very own painted wall hanging! Using wood panel and acrylic, artist Karen Mazzoline will guide you in choosing a fall theme, colors, and painting techniques to try. Once finished, you will have a beautiful fall wall hanging for your home! No experience is necessary and all materials will be provided!

Thursday, August 27 • 1:00 to 3:00 PM (Adults) Using glass in your choice of colors, create a picture (4 inch wide) to add to a provided metal frame (22 inches tall) that may be placed in your garden. A bit of color the deer will not eat! Glass items will be left at the end of class to be tack fused and assembled and can be picked up by the weekend. Class location at Cedarville Home Studio. Directions will be provided to the registered attendees.

All tools and materials are provided so that each student will create a beautiful stained glass succulent plant design to take home.
