TRM Ball Sponsorship

For more than sixty years, the Ballroom community has served as a haven for Black and Brown LGBTQIA+ communities. What began as an act of resistance has evolved into a cultural movement that continues to influence pop culture while creating spaces where people can create, compete, connect, and express their authentic selves. 

Beyond competition and creative expression, Ballroom has historically served as a gateway to community support and resources for people who often experience marginalization and limited access to culturally responsive services. The Red Masquerade brings that legacy together with health promotion, education, connection to care, and celebration.The event will create meaningful pathways to HIV/STI testing and prevention, PrEP services, treatment and care, behavioral health services, and supportive community resources in an environment centered on authenticity, wellness, and belonging. 

Our Goals 

• Test at least 100 people for HIV and STIs. 

• Engage at least 25 people in PrEP services. 

• Connect at least 25 people to behavioral and mental health services. 

• Reengage the local community and connect attendees to essential health and community resources. 

A Culturally Grounded Health Strategy 

Beginning the week of November 1, community members will have the opportunity to “test for tickets,” receiving free admission to the ball by completing HIV/STI testing. The initiative will continue through the conclusion of the event, creating multiple opportunities for people to know their status and engage with sexual health resources. 

Ballroom houses can also earn incentives through collective engagement. A house with 10 members completing HIV testing or at least five members referred to PrEP services can receive a complimentary house table valued at approximately $500. Free admission can also be available to people with lived experience who complete a behavioral health intake with Abounding Prosperity’s behavioral health team.
