2026 GREAT Chicken Contest - Wooden Chicken Decorating

About the application
Traditional or unique, make your chicken the GREATEST in town. $20 entry. Each entry will receive one bare wooden chicken. Two categories to enter: Adult (ages 13+) or Child (ages 0-12).
All GREAT Chickens will be displayed at the 21th Annual Fair Oaks Chicken Festival on September 19th, 2026 from 12PM-6PM at Fair Oaks Park (11549 Fair Oaks Blvd.) Voting will happen LIVE on-site from 12PM-4PM. Winner willl be selected and announced around 4:30PM.
Winners of the each category (Adult & Child) will be awarded a certificate and a prize basket. Winners will be those with the most votes in their category. All entries will be awarded a participation certificate.
Terms & Conditions
IMPORTANT DATES
August 3: Base Wooden Chicken may be picked up as early as August 3 from the District office (4150 Temescal St. Fair Oaks, CA 95628), Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.
August 28: Registration closes & Base Wooden Chicken must be picked up from the District office (4150 Temescal St. Fair Oaks, CA 95628) no later than September 4th by 5pm. Base wooden chicken not picked up by 5pm will be forfeited. No refunds, no exceptions.
September 11: All Completed Wooden Chickens must be delivered to Fair Oaks Recreation & Park District office (4150 Temescal St. Fair Oaks, CA 95628) by 5pm.
September 19: GREAT Chickens will be on display at the main Chicken Festival event at Fair Oaks Park. Voting will be LIVE on-site from 12PM-4PM. Winners will be selected and announced shortly after voting closes.
September 23- October 2: Wooden Chicken & any applicable certificate and/or awarded prize(s) may be picked up from the Fair Oaks Recreation & Park District office (4150 Temescal St. Fair Oaks, CA 95628) between 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday.
