About the application
Calling All Musicians & Performers! The Marmalade Jam Fest is back for its 12th year, and we'd love to have you join us—whether you're a returning favorite or considering performing with us for the very first time.
Jam Fest is a fun, family-friendly neighborhood celebration held outdoors next to the Marmalade Library in Salt Lake City's Capitol Hill/Marmalade neighborhood. We provide a covered stage, professional sound equipment, and an experienced sound engineer so you can focus on sharing your talents with the community.
Performances are 45 minutes long, with a 15-minute break between acts for setup and sound checks. We're looking for a wide variety of family-friendly music, performance art, and entertainment that reflects the creativity and character of our community.
We expect to have 10–12 performance slots available, though some may be reserved for other neighborhood programming. To be considered, please send us a little information about yourself or your group, including:
- A brief description of your music or act
- Photos (if available)
- Links to audio or video recordings
- Reviews, social media pages, or anything else you'd like us to see
We're excited to discover new talent and welcome back performers who have helped make JamFest such a special community tradition. We look forward to hearing from you!
Terms & Conditions
By submitting an application to perform at the Capitol Hill Neighborhood Council’s Marmalade JamFest, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
Application and Approval. Applying does not guarantee acceptance. We expect to have at most 12 performance slots available. Applications will be reviewed by a jury based on talent, professionalism, audience engagement, local/charitable significance, and alignment with our aims for a family-friendly and inclusive festival. Acceptance decisions are made by organizers at their sole discretion and are informed by, but not determined by, jury evaluations. Organizers reserve the right to decline or revoke any application at any time for any reason. All decisions are final.
Schedule & Safety. Marmalade JamFest takes place on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Time assignments are made by the festival organizers at their sole discretion based on the availability listed on the application. Performers must adhere strictly to their scheduled times and agree to follow all safety, equipment, and logistical instructions provided to them by event organizers and the stage management team.
Content. Marmalade JamFest is a family-friendly community celebration. All performances, lyrics, and on-stage activities must be inclusive, professional, and suitable for all ages.
Honorarium. Anticipated performance fees, including any discounts or donations to the Capitol Hill Neighborhood Council, will be reviewed during the application process and negotiated prior to acceptance to perform. Acceptance is contingent upon reaching an agreement regarding compensation and will be confirmed in writing in advance of the festival. Performers receiving any honorarium must complete a Form W-9 in order to be confirmed and approved to perform. Performers donating all or part of their honorarium will receive a contribution acknowledgment consistent with IRS requirements.
Independent Contractor. Performers act as independent contractors, not employees of Capitol Hill Neighborhood Council or Marmalade JamFest. Performers are solely responsible for their own expenses associated with their performance. Performers may be required to sign a performer agreement before being confirmed for the event.
Cancellations and Weather. The festival is held outdoors and proceeds rain or shine. No compensation will be provided for acts that cancel or fail to appear. Festival organizers are not liable for loss, damage, injury, or interruption of the performer's operations or set due to weather, accidents, or acts of nature.
Hold Harmless. By accepting a performance slot, the performer agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Capitol Hill Neighborhood Council, its officers, directors, volunteers, and agents from any and all claims, demands, suits, or liability arising out of the performer's actions in connection with the event.
Up-to-date instructions regarding event safety and day-of procedures will be provided to approved performers prior to the event and are subject to change.
