The CR Pride Parade Presented by Cargill is an up-close and personal celebration! This New Orleans "walking style" parade makes its way through the NewBo campus and features local community groups, purveyors, faith communities, performing ensembles, and more. Homegrown excitement abounds as entries put their creativity on display with themed entries, wagon and cart style "floats," costumes, and a whole lot of fun...
Prizes will be awarded for Best Costumes/Attire, Best Wagon/Cart, Best Theme, and Best Pride Spirit.
Terms & Conditions
Parade Start Time: 11:00 a.m. Staging area opens at 10:00 a.m.; Staging begins at 10:15 a.m.
1) All entries must have a "Pride" theme.
2) No motorized vehicles allowed. 2-4 wheel carts, wagons, strollers, or platforms that are manual push/pull are allowed. Size may not exceed 3' (wide) x 5' (long) in order to physically fit down the parade route. Battery powered or remote control units are not allowed. *motorized mobility aids are allowed for our differently abled friends.
3) For groups of people in your entry: we recommend no more than 3-4 people across (if they are shoulder-to-shoulder) so they can physically fit down the parade route, since this is a walking-style parade that uses walkways and sidewalks. There is no limit to the number of rows/length of people in your entry.
4) Absolutely NO THROWING candy or other items from your entry. Additional, individual walkers may hand items out to the crowd along the edges of the parade route. No stopping, no lagging behind; no disrupting other entries.
5) NO ALCOHOL consumption or display of alcohol during the parade or in the staging area.
6) Entries must be "family friendly"-appropriate to be seen by all ages and respectful of all political and religious views. Prohibited: the depiction of/use of images of illegal drugs and/or drug paraphernalia, smoking/tobacco/vaping and/or related items, nudity, sexually graphic content, images of violence, weapons and fake weapons, or foul language.
7) The staging area opens at 10:00 a.m. Some must accompany the entry at all times. Do not bring your entry to the staging area and leave it.
8) Please attach or carry a sign that identifies your group in the parade.
9) All entries must continue to move forward during the parade. No stopping or performing on the parade route or in front of the judges' stand.
10) Participants must obey CR Pride staff.
11) PLEASE NOTE: failure to comply with the rules can result in disqualification for awards and/or removal from the parade or future parades. Entrant agrees to READ AND OBEY all parade rules. The entrant holds harmless CR Pride and its representatives for all liability while participating in the parade. Entrant agrees to educate all participants on the rules before participating in the parade.
12) Due to the nature of this event, NO REFUNDS will be given for any reason.
