Colony Days Community Events – Description & Guidelines
What is a Community Event?
A Community Event is an activity organized by an individual, business, or organization within the Greater Palmer area during Colony Days (June 12, 13, and 14). These events take place at the organizer’s chosen location—such as their place of business or another venue—and operate independently of the Palmer Chamber.
- Community Events can include a wide variety of activities, such as:
- Concerts or live performances
- Crafting classes or workshops
- Games or family-friendly activities
- Educational presentations
- Vendor markets or pop-up shops
Event organizers may charge admission or fees at their discretion.
Submission Deadline
All Community Event submissions must be received by:
May 15 at 5:00 PM
Late submissions will not be included in printed materials or guaranteed placement in promotional schedules.
Important Clarification
Community Events are independently organized and operated.
The Palmer Chamber:
- Does not plan, manage, or staff these events
- Is not responsible for the event location, setup, or participation
- Does not provide insurance coverage for Community Events
- Is not responsible for funding or financial support
Responsibilities of the Event Organizer
The individual or organization hosting a Community Event is fully responsible for:
- Securing and managing the event location
- Obtaining any necessary permits, licenses, or permissions
- Providing insurance coverage, if applicable
- Coordinating all event logistics (setup, staffing, cleanup, etc.)
- Ensuring safety, compliance, and adherence to local regulations
- Marketing and promoting their event independently (in addition to Chamber promotion, if applicable)
- Managing all financial aspects, including fees, payments, and expenses
Responsibilities of the Palmer Chamber
The Palmer Chamber’s role is limited to promotion and visibility. The Chamber will:
- Provide inclusion in official Colony Days schedules (based on membership status)
- Promote qualifying events through designated marketing channels
- Support overall awareness of Colony Days as a community-wide celebration
The Chamber does not take on any operational or legal responsibility for Community Events.
Member vs. Non-Member Benefits
For Chamber Members
Community Events hosted by Chamber members receive:
- Listing in the online Colony Days schedule
- Inclusion in the printed Colony Days schedule
- Promotion across all Palmer Chamber social media platforms
For Non-Members
Community Events hosted by non-members receive:
- Listing in the online Colony Days schedule only
Summary
Community Events are an opportunity for local businesses and organizations to participate in Colony Days by showcasing their own unique activities. While the Palmer Chamber helps promote these events, each organizer is fully responsible for planning, executing, and managing their event independently.
